Any solution to your problem with the UJ-820B? I just bought one new and am having the same problem. I'm also trying to locate the latest firmware upgrade for it.

Any ideas?

Anyone tried this firmware yet?

I dont know what to tell you guys, I am still using this DVD drive, and it works fine. I burn everything with it. Try to stick with something that works fellas. We should sticky this thread just so you can read the possibilities of the P25 series. I was able to successfully upgrade to Dual Channel DDR 400 Mhz Memory. I upgraded to a Hitachi 7k100 GB Laptop HD. The specs on my laptop are unbelievable considering what it came with. It runs flawlessly and the system has not failed in 3 years for me. I am glad I ditched that UJ-811B drive.

If you want to upgrade the UJ-811B burner, they are very cheap right now, I just searched on ebay for "UJ-840" and I was able to find so many of these on there, they are even cheaper than when I bought it.

Good luck guys!

Just a small question: Why are you exchanging your 7200 drive into a 5400? Was it overheating?
Also, I have the P25-S507. My init memory is 266MHz, PC2100. Can I actually upgrade it to 400MHz? Will my board support it or is it just a P25-S60x privillege?

Thanks.

I had an extra one lying around, and I sold the first 60GB 7200RPM one for a 100GB 5400RPM... Now I have sold the 100GB 5400RPM for a final hard drive of Hitachi Travelstar 7k100, 100GB 7200RPM. Heat is not an issue!!

And yes, the P25 series supports Dual Channel DDR400 Memory, check which chipset you have and post back, I believe it's the Intel 865 series chipset in their motherboards which supports it.

I have the same chipset, so I hope I won't have any problems. I will update as soon as I get the goods.

Has anyone tried this drive in their p25 yet? "Pioneer DVR-K16" With a price of about $75 it doesn't look like you can go wrong.

It may have been answered before, but after a few hours of searching I haven't been able to find an answer if the I/O Error plauge is caused by a bad connection to the Mainboard or just the Matsu-SH*T-a drive.

why oh why

Why would anyone replace one matSHITa drive with another matSHITa drive?

I have the P25 S607 and it will be my last Toshiba. They ran out the timer on my extended warranty with quibbling so they would not have to replace a defective motherboard.

AT NO TIME did the heat regulation of the motherboard function. Yay for overheating

I made the mistake of buying a toshiba because I experienced excellent customer service at work.... at a multinational multibillion dollar corporation

toshiba "support" screws individuals

As for DVD I use an external, firewire400, Plextor 716

You have already voiced your displeasure on another thread regarding your experience. No need to dig up a three year old thread just to vent again
