Recommended DVD-RW discs for use with M3438G laptop?

Are there any particular recommended manufacturers of DVD writeable discs for use with the M3438G's DVD writer? (ie. for maximum compatibility and writing without errors, without turning your discs into tea coasters)

Also, what are the differences between DVD-R and DVD+R? And similarly between DVD-RW and DVD+RW formats? In otherwords which is the best polarity (ie. + or -) to use?

I used Platinum DVDR+ 8x yesterday. Burnt 10 and they worked flawless in my home cinema.
Personally I like DVR+ better because they work in my other equipment. But also feels just a bit faster to burn.

I've been using TDKs without a problem. I only wasted one testing if it would overburn (it wouldn't).

As for +/-, I remember looking for information long time ago trying to decide which one to use, and I settled for +. I can't remember why though. Obviously I could be wrong.

dont get verbatim dvd+rw from amazon. i bought a pack of 25 and they arent recognised by the drive
