Noise Problem

Hi, I have a problem.. I own a DV1365ea, and am extremely happy with it. Only problem, if I am listening to music or watch movies, there is a spinnig sound that comes up every 2min or so, and lasts for 20secs...

I have read about, and used, Centrino Hardware Control, or now know as Notebook Hardware Control.

But no matter what settings I put it on, the sound does not go away, is there something that I am overlooking, another problem, another app I can use????

Help?????

is it the fan, hd, dvd drive making this sound ?

i dont know aobut chc/nhc but i8fanGUI has an option to limit fan speeds based on temperature schemes
so if for a dvd you could limit it to starting the fan, or atleast limit it to "slow" till 60C then you might be able to have better results of a dvd

or just wear headfones (studio ones, not ear-buds)

How loud is it and can you hear it in the speakers?

and no not that loud, when in a room with some noise, i.e. tv in background or people talking, but in quiet enviroment, its very noticeable, it even happens when the on is switch on, on the desktop, doing nothing with it.

I don't think there's anything you can do to reduce HD noise, except replacing it with a silent HD.

It's slow. You would see real improvement in performance by going to something like a 100-120gb 5400 rpm Seagate.

You would get a nice boost as Richard said, but even with my Seagate I occassionaly hear noise.... so if your going to buy a new drive for the noise, you might want to research which ones claim they produce little.
