Subwoofer and center channel not working on 9880

I'm pretty confused about speaker config on my 9880. It's supposed to have the subwoofer but it doesn't appear to work.

When I go into the Realtek multimedia setup, I don't hear any sound from the center or subwoofer during the test. I heard the center only once but not sure why/how it stopped working. I uninstalled the Readltek hidef from add/remove programs. Then used driver cleaner pro. Next installed the audio drivers from the utility CD that came w/the 9880 but still the sub/center don't work when configured for 6 speakers. The only two speakers that work when light up are the left and right.
I did try the 1.25 drivers to no avail... (they're currently loaded.)

Also, in the Master Volume for Windows, the center, side, and subwoofer appear somewhat greyed out (they're not showing muted, but the mute option is greyed out and not changeable on any of those three.)
Any ideas?

The center speakers and subwoofer are SIMULATED surround sound. If you play music with bass on it put on ur hand on your laptop with the sound cranked you will feel it. Its a 1 inch sub. Give it a break for it to actually shake the laptop a little bit thats really decent. Figured that out on my own. You can hook up to 7.1 surround sound to ur comp though or just the sub if u have a regular stereo plug for it. other than that just set it to simulated surround

Thank you for your reply. I was just confused why I saw the center channel speaker actually light up and work once in the Realtek sound manager when set to 6 channels. Seems others have seen them working too but perhaps you're correct as I've played with it so many different ways it makes my head spin lol!. ;-)
