Power Saver problem

Thread Starter
I just recently bought a Toshiba M35-S159 laptop. I love it, but I already have a problem. It seems that a dll file associated with the power saver program has gone corrupt. I cannot seem to find the file on the internet anywhere. It is called cpuperf.dll If anyone has this file, can they make a copy so I can replace mine? I cannot even reinstall the power saver program off the back up disk, I receive the error associated with this file. I also think the file may be messing up my sound card. I have problems every-now-and-then when for some reason the computer does not recognize my sound card. I have to actually uninstall it, then reboot and it will install the sound card as new hardware. I have no clue if the two problems are associated or not. Has anyone else experienced these problems or have any ideas?

Hi, If you go to support.toshiba.com and click on Tech Support Center. Select the model of your computer and download Toshiba Power Saver or Toshiba Power Management Utility. CPUPerf.dll is installed by this piece of software and when you reinstall your problem should be resolved

dont find it on my machines ... couple of ideas

Since I don't find this file on my toshibas and cant find in on internet search guessing that file cpuperf.dll it is not really associated with the power saver utility.

Have you kept machine updated with antivirus definitions and windows updates and a firewall? Any chance your machine has been hacked? Theres a bunch of exploitable windows problems for new machiens out of the box these days.

One possibility to fix is to save anything you really need (burn to cd or whatever) then recover your machine to the way it was when you bought it by using the recovery disk.
