It's not possible to buy thinkpad barebones now?

I called thinkpad twice today trying to buy a T43p 2687-E4U barebone. but the CSR didn't allow me to buy the barebone system unless i configure everything...

so maybe they changed the policy and there is no such deal anymore? I'm just trying to save some money...

dont think it was ever possible. now at least, there is no way to do it AFAIK.

maybe you can order oen straight from lenovo?
