Since ACER never updates the drivers you need you'll have to find them yourself.
Here are my results so far.

1. Allways keep a copy of the drivers you know work. If the new one is bad you can allways go back.
2. You should not use the original ACER drivers since they've been the same for years.

Here are some examples of what you won't have if you don't upgrade your drivers:
Wireless LAN - WPA2 secutity functionality, better UI for managing WLAN...
Graphics - Compatitbility with newer games and tweaks (Omegadriver)...
VIA Chipset driver - USB improvements and better AGP performance...
AMD CPU-driver - Improved cool 'n' quiet performance
Widcomm Bluetooth - without this you shouldn't use bluetooth at all...

and so on...

Does the latest Omega Drivers still give the black screen when playing games, thus requiring that Fn-F5 trick to make it work?
After I have installed my ferari 3200 with a newer XP, not the XP recover disk that came with my purchase... I cannot longer take advantage of the IR transfer to my mobile device. It is very buggy as it seems.
Sometimes it appears and vanishes as fast again and there is no change I can transfer any files at all via the IR.

I reckon I had no problems when I had the preinstalled Windows XP.

Check the "read me"-section over at omegadrivers.net. When you get problems with the VGA-driver i sometimes helps to reinstall the AGP-driver in the VIA Hyperion-package.

I use the original Mobility Catalyst driver an ATITool and ATI Tray Tool instead of Catalyst Control Center (it's just a waste of space).
