Which notebook do I try THIS time? - Page 2

First - Ok my grammar was incorrect. I am the first to admit when I am wrong, I am also the first to admit I am not an english major.

Second - I need no help understanding the word condescension. You apparently need some help with the word "laden". A spell check of my post revealed 2 mistakes. A character reversal in the word Exactly and a missing punctuation in didn't. I was not aware that two qualified as laden.

Third - You failed to address the fact that despite your time being invaluable, you did not take the time to thoroughly research the 17 inch screen and thus missed chance to see it in advance of ordering.

Fourth - Your constant reference to my sig in a derisive manner proves that you do not know where the quote comes from. From this I can deduce that you do not watch Bugs Bunny and from that I can deduce you need working on

Amen to that brother!

I'm in the same position as you are: looking for a gaming notebook, not too heavy and with decent battery life. I've been considering the Sager 5680 for some time now, but I don't like what I hear about the weight and size (and noise, which some people complain about) of that one. And yes, I KNOW IT'S GOT DESKTOP PARTS INSIDE (just trying to get some of the flamers off my back ). It would be really sweet if I could get my hands on a 5680 and try it out, but I don't see that happening (I don't think anybody I know has even HEARD of Sager, lol).

So that leaves me with the Dell I8600 (well, there is the Voodoo Envy:460 but I refuse to pay that much money for a lappy). Thing is, I haven't seen ANY reviews of the I8600 with the ATI 9600 inside, hopefully someone here will post one soon. It would be very interesting to find out how a 1.7 P-M compares to a 3.2 P-4 (of course the P-M is slower, but by how much?). And how about the difference between 4xAGP and 8xAGP? When will the fact that the I8600 only uses 4x make a difference in gaming? So some benchmarks would be really nice.

Another factor for me is that even if I live in the US right now, I'm going back home to Sweden in less than a year and, well, I can find Dell in Sweden but not Sager. Hopefully whatever I buy won't break down, but you never know...maybe it's just me but I don't like the thought of sending a computer halfway across the world for service.

But like you said, there's something about buying a Dell that feels scary...I think analyysis made a review of the HP NC8000 (http://sagerforums.com/showthread.php?t=10703), that may be an alternative.

Well, back to scratching my head...

One: Congratulations! That wasn't so hard, was it? I wasn't an English major, either, but have built an extremely lucrative career as a professional writer. You don't have a prayer of a chance to out-write me. How's THAT for an arrogant assertion?

Two: I referenced your PREVIOUS and current comments directed towards me. In other words, your initial AND successive postings. It appears more instruction is necessary. Misspellings cover errors in syntax (i.e., simpathy...replace your "i" with a "y") and punctuation (i.e., your inability to include apostrophes wherever you use contractions and possessives...I stopped counting after 5, hence the descriptive adjective "laden").

Three: Once again, you fail to understand that I already knew of the 4780's WXGA resolution BEFORE ordering it. I ordered the 4780 to evaluate it in its entirety, not just its screen. All you had to do was read a few of my previous postings in the 4780 related threads to see for yourself. Ah, but that would've required that you take your own advice and do a little research before posting your comments, huh?

Four: The fact that I'm extremely familiar with the subtle humor of that great American icon, Bugs Bunny, et al, provided me with the precise basis with which to twist your signature into a shot at you. Plus, it's obvious that doing so annoyed you, which made it even more enjoyable!

Next, I tried the Sager 4780, which I just received, but will have to return because of some hard drive/system failure. I'm also unhappy with the resolution.
Thats from the original post. Nowhere in it do you mention being unhappy with the performance of the machine. You simply mention being unhappy with the resolution. Since this was the only issue you addressed specifically I chose to focus upon it. I quite correctly pointed out, you could have evaluated the resolution at any local electronics store. If you had mentioned performance issues with the machine, chances are I would not have commented at all.

90% of your follow up postings have been about grammatical and spelling/typo errors in my posts. This reveals one or possibly two things about you.

1) You are an extremely anal individual who needs to CTFO.
2) You realise that you were a dope for not checking out the 17 inch screen before purchase and are directing your comments towards my writing, rather than the issue at hand, in order to cover up this fact.

Finally I do not consider your comments on my sig twisting it. Simple repetition of the phrase, or use of it out of context is not a twist. Nor does it require any literary skill. Far from annoying me it put me in mind of a small child who having exhausted his choice retorts has fallen back on "YEAH, WELL YOU ARE". A twist would have been "Bratag may hug his George, but thats one fat baby". Or perhaps "When Bratag says he loves computers I am beginning to think he means it in the Biblical sense - hug him and kiss him??"

Oh and just to follow along with your trend on sigs

Your pathological inability to see that which is placed directly in front of you makes continuing this conversation beyond pointless. I'll leave you to your Bizarro-world of infantile foolishness with the following comments...

I've NEVER expressed dissatisfaction with the 4780's performance. Again, your failure, or simple laziness, to read some of my posts in the other 4780 threads on this board (as I suggested to you in a a previous post) has prevented you from understanding my position on the 4780.

I specifically pointed out, in my thread titled "Quick impressions of the 4780" which can be found in the Sager Reviews and Benchmarks section, that the 4780 is a "wickedly fast machine," has a screen clear of dead/stuck pixels with "nice, biright colors," and has a very "sleek design" and "very well built," to name just a few of my impressions of the machine. And, once again, in deference to you, using words of one syllable...I knew the screen was just as it was when I bought it.

My patience with and ability to evaluate the 4780 ended when it's equipment failed after one day of use. You deal with a hard drive failure on a brand new computer. I'll simply return it and find something better suited to my preferences.

Now, if you can't understand what I just wrote, you truly are a moron.

Buh-bye!!

Ok, not that this isn't entertaining, but maybe we could get back to the topic of the original post?

Any thought on the HP NC8000 vs Dell I8600? Which one would work best in gaming?

I know that you insane git - my original post was suggesting that perhaps it would have been wise to check out the 17 inch screen (the ONLY thing you expressed disapointment with in your original post) Before you bought it. You followed up by saying that you couldnt check out the Sager at just any place and I followed up by suggesting perhaps you grab a goddamn clue and realise that the 17 inch screen is the same on all machines. You then followed up by saying that You wanted to test the machine as a whole, this despite the fact you didnt mention that in your original post.

Frankly I hope you continue to be disapointed by every machine you buy. I think you are an idiot for not checking out the 17inch screen before buying the 4780 - I think you are an idiot for writing off the whole machine because of a faulty HD and I think you are an arrogant twat.

Finally read the f**king post

I even acknowleged you didnt express disappointment in the performance - thats why my original post didnt mention anything about performance.

For a professional writer you display an overwhelming inability to remember your own work and read someone elses, but that would fit perfectly with your smug, self involved persona.

May all your laptops be lemons and may your literary works be used as toilet paper and fire starter.

I think I'm going to give the Dell 8600 a try. I priced one out at $2294 with all the goodies. Dell's got a 30-day, no restocking fee return policy, so that'll give me plenty of time to give it a good workout. I'll post a review of it, too. Thanks!

You returned you sager. I am not pleased with mine either (8890). The thing does not work and now the RAM is bad. I am considering returining mine with in there 30 day policy.

How was the return process. Did you just have to absorb the shipping costs? What about software. I have opened most of mine casue I needed to use it to get try and get the notebook to work!

How fast did you get your money back! I spent 3500 on this unit that was saved up for a long time.

Any information would be great!

Cheers

Sorry about your 8890 troubles.

The return process is quite simple. You've gotta go to www.sagernotebooks.com and use their online RMA request form in the Support area. I processed the form on Sunday and received my RMA # on Monday night. I'm taking the box to UPS today. I'll have to eat the shipping cost, but that's the least of my concerns. Hope this helps!
