My M170 is out for delivery right now >< I stocked up in preparation for its arrival and picked up Quake 4, FEAR and Age of Empires III. This is driving me nuts. I keep staring out the damn window. I really want to check out Quake 4 also.

I installed F.E.A.R. yesterday and Quake 4 today but on my desktop, not laptop. My desktop has a 2405FPW but it doesn't appear you can play the game in widescreen. You can choose either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, but when you change to widescreen(16:9) it still displays 4:3 resolutions.

Modified the config so now it plays at 1920x1200

Yep...I don't know if that's good or bad.

It seems to play pretty well, a lot better than Doom 3 that is.

I've heard many people say that it's Doom 3 with the lights on

(and yes, I know it's the same engine).

heh this was exactly my first thought.. i was like "wait, isnt that a screenshot of doom3? whats new? oh the HUD..."

Heh...now I'm not saying it's a bad before I play it. To those who have played it, does it differ from Doom 3 in gameplay? I suspect the answer might be no...but hey, that's OK because there's that multiplayer version of Quake 4 that seems to be like Battlefield. Now that catches my interest. I forget the name of it exactly...

Quake 4 is much more action oriented than doom 3. Not any slowly walking down the hall and a monster pops out of a hidden closet. And yeah that quake multiplayer game looks pretty good.

Quake wars right?

Quakr4 in multiplayer is much like Quake3 multiplayer. Single Player takes up from Quake2 story line. I played Q4 online today for about 4 hours and it feels muhc like quake3 online just with much better graphics and FX. I like it as did play q3 online for years. My xps2 runs it decently but i had much more fun playing on my desktop, it seemed to handle heavy battles much better.

That's what it is; Enemy Territory Quake Wars. Enemy Territory was pretty awesome, so the new version has a lot to live up to. And I don't think the new one will be free either.

i don't know why they make with the same engine, even if they do, why they didn't change the way the game looks, the ss is so much like doom 3 darn!

brothers in arms uses unreal engine but nothing like unreal tournament or etc. etc.

i guess i will figure my answer when i start working at EA or ubisoft
