I forget the name of it exactly...
Given Quake4 has a 16 player cap, the multiplayer is probably going to fall short of Battlefield.

Although some sections are similar to Doom3, the overall game seems to be quite different - proper outdoor areas for a start. Another big difference is that you are with a squad of AI teammates in Quake4, plus the gameplay isn't reliant on single monsters jumping out on you all the time.

brothers in arms uses unreal engine but nothing like unreal tournament or etc. etc.

i guess i will figure my answer when i start working at EA or ubisoft
If you look at more screenshots, you'll see most of the game is not like Doom3, that's not a great choice of screenshot above.

Haven't any of you people played Quake 3 multiplayer????!!

Don't even compare Quake multiplayer to BF2 or anything like that.

Quake multiplayer is fast paced, straight up shooting the hell out of each other on small maps. Running and jumping around like bunnies, no recoil, no waiting 15 seconds to respawn, all out frag fest. Requires concentration, fast reaction time and most important of all AIMING.

The multiplayer definitely isn't noob friendly, as you'll just be dying every 5 seconds. But for those of you that have been playing First person shooters for years, it'll be a blast, assuming you aren't slow.

I just bought it last night, it's like Quake 3 multiplayer but prettier. I've been waiting for too long for another fragfest FPS like Quake 4.

They were talking about quake wars, which will be like Battlefield.

Just installed quake 4, wow very impressive. Its what I felt Doom 3 should have been instead of a bunch of cheap scares.
Also Im able to run it at native resolution (1920x1200) and it plays fine, slows down a bit in outdoor parts but still very playable.

Wow, looks fantastic. I'll definitely have to add it to the list along with F.E.A.R. and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (what the hell is the new trend with acronyms ). btw, is it just me or so some texture in the Doom3 engine just look too blocky? I noticed the same thing in Doom 3 and thought "wtf, that takes away so much from the game?" For instance, the bio scanners as soon as you arrive on Mars, look at their textures. Anyways, great looking game

Here's the question of the day... will it run on a 9300 Geforce 6800 GO driven laptop with respectable results? I am installing it here on my desktop as we speak but my 9300 is at work. I wanna know if I should take the game to work with me and install it there.

Anyone got any info on this?

Yea i have a 9300 with geforce o/ced to 360/725 and it runs well at high quality settings (in game settings) at 1600x1200. Outdoor areas slower but dont think there are many of those areas. Also at 2aa and 8af. My problem I can't seem to switch to 1920x1200. Looked in the cfg file and cannot switch. If I try to change resolution to 1920x1200 in cfg file the game runs but I only see my desktop, doesnt actually go in game.

You have to change 1 or 2 other things to make it go into widescreen, i cant remember what it is off the top of my head but its the same for what you do for doom 3. I was able to succecfuly get it running at 1920x1200.
And yes it should run fine on a 9300, as long as you dont go crazy with the settings.

This works for me:

opened Quake 4\q4base\Quake4Config.cfg in a text editor, found these lines and changed them to my desired resolution (don't remember the default values)

seta r_customHeight "1200"
seta r_customWidth "1920"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_aspectRatio "2"

Just played this on the M170. This is old skool quake. I love it

It runs good on my 9300, 6800 OC/d to 360/775. Playing Quake 4 at 1440x900 Ultra settings, 2xAA, 8xAF

I play FEAR at 1280x800 maxed (except textures on medium) settings with 2xAA 4xAF

<------------- P.S. Could someone please tell me why my reputation is so bad

i got it today, dunno about the single player as i know i would get bored of it fast but the multiplayer is pretty cool although you have to get used to dying a lot... A LOT and it could do with a little tweaking but overall its addictive and instantaneos fun.

As for it running well on the xps m170 i have 2.13pent m, 2gb 533, 7800gtxm sb audigy zs it goes like stink. High detail + 1024x768 vsync on and i experience no slow down 81.85

hope u all enjoy it if you get it

lol , that's got to be the funniest misinformed post I've seen in awhile, but yah, it's out. I'm tempted to get it, but I'll probably wait until the end of the semester so I dont fail . It's the Doom Engine guys, so most likely all the tweaks that applied to Doom3/ROE apply here. Make an autoexec.cfg file for what you need and have fun.

P.S.: No idea icy, what does your rep history say? Or did the ballless assholes not leave their names or reasons? Whatever, I'll give you a few postitive reps

I feel sorry for him, so every one give him some rep
