Toshiba Satellite A45-S130 LCD issue

Hello folks,

I"m looking for a service manual on how to tear down a A45-S130 laptop. A person brought it in and stated it was "a victim of a honey fight". I didn't really inquire on what that detailed. However the lcd is very faint, you can barley make out the image on it. But it will occasionally turn on... and run for a few days, then black out again ... ect. I want to tear it down and clean it out. But would like a manual before I start. An external monitor works fine on the machine. Also thinking it could possibly be the cable running to the lcd or the light on the back... any help... manual... ideas what ever would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Aaron

you are a computer repairer? I am just asking as I am wondering why the person wouldn't take it to a Toshiba repair centre where they have the equipment to diagnose.

Honey fight? Do they mean they threw honey on it, or they threw their notebook at their honey (partner). I would find that out.

It won't be the harness. There is a few possibilities, number 1 is a faulty FL Inverter.... maybe honey has caused corrosion on the inverter. Could be a smashed FL Tube in the LCD. Could be a fuse on the motherboard.
Since you can see a faint picture, it is a lighting issue.

I suspect FL inverter.
"But it will occasionally turn on... and run for a few days, then black out again ..." it tells me that the backlight bulb is fine (most likely).
"An external monitor works fine on the machine" - system board is fine.
Apparently FL inverter is bad.
