Acer 8104 Screen vs Acer Ferrari 4005 Screen

Thread Starter
How does the Acer 8104 Screen compares to the Acer Ferrari 4005 screen in terms of quality? I'm really considering these two computers as their prices seem to be coming down.
My guess is that they are exactly the same 1680x1050 screen for the 2Ghz Ferrari (the slower ferrari has a glossy lower res screen I think) unless Acer has changed vendors mid-run. My 8104 screen is bright and very readable. No dead pixels, but it does have slight "sparkle" effect which I do find noticable.

Its not the best screen but its also not the worst I've used.

no sparkles noticed on my Ferrari.

Could have sworn someone found them to be the same part.

i'm trying to decide between the two... i can get a new ferrari 4005 for US $1495 and a new 8104 for US $1609....

decisions... decisions

if the screens are identical, then it makes it a little easier

I think the sparkle effect is very subjective based on each individuals eyes and the type of screen. Where I see "sparkles" or lcd graininess, you might not and vice versa.

i actually returned the Asus z71v partly because of the graininess of the display... what really drove me nuts was its inability to accurately depict whites (whites were very dull and had almost a greyish tint)

all the reviews i read haven't mentioned sparkles for either of the acers...

this talk of sparkles trouble me since returning an Acer is a lot more difficult than returning a Asus

A new Ferrari 4005 for $1495 is a great deal right?

it's depends on your eyes but it's part of the anti-reflective property of the screen. Your only other choice is a glossy screen which is un-usable (in my view) in most backlighted or outdoor envoirment.

why don't you just get an Asus Z70va? That doesn't have sparkles.

for the price... the acer 8104 and teh acer ferrari can't be beat

to get a asus with the same specs as the acer 8104 is a bit more expensive currently as the acers have dropped in price recently

as of last week, asus z70va was at the top of the list.... however with the LCD/Bluetooth issues and lack of dvd drives and bluettoth at some retailers, i'm taking a very close look at acer and sager (5320)

ferrari 4005's LCD is ok, but, quite noticable light bleeding on the top and lower part, and the back light is not very bright, compared to my Asus W1N's LCD
so for me the ferrari LCD is not so good, but not so bad either, i'll say it's average .
The screens on the 8104 and the Ferrari 4005 are the same screens. If you can get the Ferrari for less money then go with that, you will not be disappointed. Everything about the Ferrari is very high quality. The Turion CPU is the main plus for the Ferrari over the 8104. The 64-bit processor will really be a good thing coming up in the next two years (despite what other people say, Turion processors are just as good battery-wise as the Pentium M's, my Ferrari gets 3:45 hours on average with Wifi on).

The main difference I'd worry about between the Ferrari and the 8104 are the fan. It runs constantly with a Ferrari, but not so with the 8104. But if you'll be gaming a lot, I'd probably go with the Ferrari.

Yes, the screens are identical. I've never heard of, nor seen any sparkle on my Acer 8104.

Obviously some1 here fails to understand the title of the thread, maybe English is too much for this person. We are comparing Acer 8104 vs Acer Ferrari 4005. Who and why on earth should we even give a d@mn about Asus W1N? Absolutely no point other than the fact that this person likes to brag and goes off topic.

HI I just want to inform the theard starter about how my ferrari screen compared to other screen!
since u all know that the 8104 and ferrari screen is identical, i dun think it's important to compare them!
so i use my old ASUS W1N for comparison to help him!
if u dun care about the W1N then just dun read it !!

I just thought it will help him to decide which machine to buy!!

and it's not of topic!!!

8104 and ferrari use same LCD hardware! those comparing it is a dumb thing to do !!!

I hate people like u who makes this forum "UNFRIENDLY" !!

otherwise this is the best forum for our "notebook" needs.

Truth hurts, espeically when people points out an individual's flaw. No need to get mad at the truth, sometimes people just need to take a good look from their mirror, it's obvious.
whatever...
just curious why u have so much times for complaining other's post than posting an answer or solutions for people's problem/question!

Eat ur own Mirror~!

Easy on the exclamation points please

Back to the thread topic: Anyone know if some of the TM8104's have the colour-bleeding issue that many F4005's have? http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=108316
If the screens are the same, then many of the 8104's should also have the issue.

PS: You're lucky to get the F4005 at ~$1500 - I paid equivalent of $2400 for mine in July here in Denmark. (Including the danish 25% VAT)
In answer to that question (color bleeding, etc) I haven't been able to get mine to do it. So I'd say that the 8104s don't have that problem (from my one experience).
