As asked above what is amd developing in competition to the yonah and merom and why do i not hear about them??

what is merom? yonah is dual core right?

sry dun have an answer to ur question lol.

But if u think about it, AMD is already 64 bit so that sorta a positive to them...

Thanks,

I know amd is preparing dual-core turions too but am not sure if its 65nm.

AMD Turion 64 (Taylor) mobile processor is expected to be released in Q1 (definitely H1) on a 90nm SOI process. Taylor is a dual core CPU designed for Thin and light laptops. Taylor is expected to be released on Socket M1 (638 pins) and feature a DDR2-667 memory interface alongside Pacifica Virtualization and Presidio Security technolgies. Taylor will feature a 35W TDP.

Isnt the yonah built on 65nm technology???

and when Taylor is so competitive then why is every1 shouting so much about yonah? what is so great about yonah?

and which is the amd competiter to MErom??

yonah is not 64bit, and it uses more power. the silicon on insulator in the amd really helps keep power use down.

taylor can pretty much keep up with merom in a lot of areas. im sure amd will think of something though by then that can be truly competitive.

and the reason why everyone is so excited about yonah is because it might be possible to upgrade to merom and becaus intel has a ton more money than amd. there arent very many amd laptops around, so most people dont really think about it too much.
