Priorities & Paint Jobs

Thread Starter
As you can tell from my previous posts, I've been debating over which system to buy for a couple months now.

I now find myself leaning away from Alienware Areas-51m 7700 and towards a Hypersonic EX-7.

Hypseronic has more configuration otptions, seems to have better customer service (based on reviews and posts I've read on this and other sites), and the price difference is negligible.

But I digress.....the reason I'm posting is this....

In the course of configuring a notebook, I nitpick over every upgrade (is this worth an extra $100, can I save $50 if I do without that, etc.).

Yet if I do go with Hypersonic, a $400-$500 custom paint job doesn't seem unreasonable.

What in the hell is wrong with me? My priorities are all kinds of ack-basswards!!

Go to the Alienware forums and ask "What would DarthBeavis Do"? Then look at what I did do. I still love Alienware but Hyper has a better laptop offering at this point.

What you are doing is normal. You have to nitpick over the options because if you don't, you may not have exactly what you want.

I for one can't see having a generic system again. The paint jobs that I had on the GX7 and EX7 are just amazing and are head turners. Smooth Creations does an outstanding job on their system paint jobs. Simply amazing.

If you are someone who just doesn't care about that, nor want to sport it to others - maybe it isn't worth it. But they do look nice and they do become unique once you do it.

One question to leave you with. When you buy a car, do you go with the standard black or white that may be more common, or do you look for a different color. May be more money, but it becomes more you.

Good luck with the purchase!

Because of Darth I am looking at Hypersonic now... Was looking at the XPS and Sager systems; but the idea of a custom paint jib is interesting.... I'd love the scene of Anikan and Obiwan fighting with lava exploding behind them on a notebook.

As far as I can tell Hoss your priorities are YOUR priorities, if you want a paint job, well damn get a paint job. Don't second guess what you want just run with it!

I went with Hyper because I wanted a paint job.....everything else I got is just gravy!
