The asus z63a should get even a bit better battery life than the W3 due to it's integrated gpu. Either way, I believe that both have a modular otpical drive that can be swapped for a battery and will give you another ~2 hours on top of the ~3-4 that it'll get with the standard battery (I'm guessing at these numbers, somebody that has one will have to confirm them or you can look into some of the reviews).

I notice very little warmth on the palmrest. CPU in the 45-50 range (50 being full throttle is very normal and also depending on CPU speed (1.6 to 2.13).
FYI, the underside where the HHD bay is located can get pretty warm but not hot. Again it depends what kind of HHD is in there. I got a 7200rpm Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 in there and those HDs runs hotter to begain with. Also what's important is that if you look at the design/construction of the HHD bay, you will notice a couple of things: 1st, it's designed disperse HD heat. this is done by the thermal/cushion material on the bay cover touching parts of the HD. 2nd, the HD bay cover is thick and cool to the touch like metal like material. I think it may be made with reinforced carbonfiber ceramic. So many HD bays, unlike the W3s, are like ovens.
