I want to upgrade to 2 gigs and as fast as possible what would be the best memory to get ?

mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit Notebook Memory

will this work ?
DDR2 won't work, you need to get normal DDR

2 x 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM PC3200 will work. Any Brand. I reccommend Kingston or Corsair.

any significant increase by going higher than pc3200 ddr ?
You can't go higher than PC3200, the chipset doesnt support it...DDR 400mhz will be faster than DDR2 533mhz anyway, because of the better timings. The chipset is only compatible with DDR memory.

one question though. Does the ferrari support pc3200 (DDR 400Mhz)?
another question. will the use of pc3200 ram sticks decrease the time i get when running on batteries?
The Ferrari bios currently doesnt let it run at 400mhz, only at 333mhz, but a new bios will hopefully come out that will let it run at full speed, so it is worth getting PC3200. The PC3200 uses the same amount of power as PC2700 (2.5v), so there will be no difference in battery life.

Hope that helps,
Steve

Im guessing thats Cas3? Cause if its 2.5 i might want it to.

Personnaly im waiting for some 1gig Cas2 sticks to come out.. by that time hopefully a BIOS will be out to run them properly

That's the exact RAM I put in my Ferrari 4005.

It's been working great so far.

Can someone explain the difference between Cas2.5 and Cas3 for me?

I found this 1GB DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR400 • 2.5V • 128Meg x 64 for 100uk pounds
and this 1GB DDR PC2700 • CL=2.5 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR333 • 2.5V • 128Meg x 64 for 110uk pounds

They are from Crucial which I think is a good company

CAS Latency is like response time.

It's how long the RAM takes to respond to a request for data.

The faster the RAM responds, the quicker it gets to is DDR-spec'd bandwidth.

When you can combine a low CAS Latency, with a really fast hard drive, you have a super responsive computer, and to an extent, regardless of CPU speed.

In the two sticks you posted, the first one is pushing more bandwidth, but sacrifices latency, and vice versa for the second stick.
And... it seems, it is more expensive to manufacture low latency RAM than it is high bandwidth.
