My girlfriend left her 500m on last night and when she woke up this morning the screen was incredibly dark, so dark that it almost looks like the screen is off. You have to put your face right up to the screen to see the cursor. I tried to lay with the brightness and whatnot in the settings but no help. If this is a serious problem would it be the actual display or the VGA adapter which is just like the intel extreme graphic or whatever. The chip is putting out a display but you can barely see it on the screen is soo damn dark! PLease help!!!

Sounds like the back lighting just went out. The part itself is inexpensive to replace but finding the part and installing it might take a bit of research. If its still under warrenty then I would clearly tell you to send that unit in for a replacement lcd if not then its best you investigate on getting that back light repaired.
