Tee, hee. Thanx alienmomma, only been to New York once, back in the 80s.

The word (phrase) I brought back to the hive was "Refrigerated" air. I saw it on the marque's of a couple sleazy movie theaters. Gave me the chills

I think that you can get reliabilty from testing and get the products out to market in timely fashion. Getting the cutting edge out with the rest of the market is key in this segment.

AW does it with desktops and other components, they just have not recently done so with their laptops.

To be fair, AW has had tremendous growth and have released tons of new producst such as HTPCs and their new servers. Maybe enough resources aren't being diverted to notebooks. Unfortunately, notebooks are the fastest growing segment and it beckons them to really focus on this area.

When I moved to the States in '92 I was only 10. Couldn't really wander around Manhattan all by myself. When Giuliani got elected he cleaned things up pretty quickly. There are still a few adult dvd shops here and there but most 98% of the sleaze in NYC is gone.

Edit: Wow, we have really Hijacked this thread.

I wasn't very impressed with what they released, although its a mobile processor which I am pretty sure will bring new consumers to the group, I am not entirely sure I would buy the 7700 case with a mobile centrino....it just seems like moot point...to me.

It's not the 7700 case, it's a new slimline case. That's the point. It's slim, lighter, and with the hardware in them, they'll run for 3-4 hours on battery.

The 7700 on the other hand, now has the 7800, and the AMD model will be along soon they say...

I don't get why everyone is harshing on the new models. Like the Sentia, they're designed for a different market than the high powered dtr's.

We have hi jacked this haven't we? I'll bring it back on topic.

I believe AW has more up their sleeves and are saving the best for last. I'm sure there is a good reason for them holding back. In 10 years you don't go from 2 guys in a garage to what? A Company with over 500 employees, being the Dummies that some people make them out to be. As I said in a previous post, there has to be a reason no one else is offering what Hyper is. My reasoning is the Companies not offering are much bigger and might be more in the know and as I said are being more prudent. Just my humble opinion. You just can't convince me that Hyper has such a jump on these other Companies because they are so slick.
Yeah, something isn't right. Falcon Northwest is usually first announcing new vid cards and such, so their not taking orders for an AMD based model makes it seem like Hypersonic is sticking it's neck out, making a grab for early orders.

I hope DB gets his system on time as promised, but I'm not holding my breath.

Wish they had a 1680x1050 option on the display.

edit- Geez, you know, I'm trying desperately to save up for a car and the 7700 with the 7800 is sounding pretty good. But, ironically, that's exactly what I have saved up right now. At this rate, I'll never move to Nashville! Damn you, Alienware!
