Possible ferrari 4000 high noise FIX! - Page 2

When I use atitool I disable ati powerplay, or I set it to the best performance setting, then I load atitool.
However, the highest setting I usually use is 405/365 (3018 points with 3Dmark05), and the lowest is 104/119 (the same setting of ati powerplay at max battery profile).
I didn't try to set the x700 to lower level, because I don't think it's useful to turn off the fan.
Also when the CPU is at 28 Celsius, the fan is on.

Ok disabled powerplay and clocked both mem and Core to 166 and still plays SAN ANDREAS I am happy. Is there an app I can use to see if ATITOOL is working Right? also can I set it up like rm clock where it changes profiles based on battery or ac? or do I have to do it manually?

I think you have to do manually, but you can save many profiles and so load them acconding to your preferences.
Atitool is working right, however you can test the frequences using 3Dmark03 or 05 in the details menu. There is also GPU/MEM frequency details.

set atittool on default profile when you want to return to original clock, and you shouldn't have problem.

Hopefully Acer will give us a new BIOS to turn off this fan soon. It is the only thing I absolutely hate about this notebook.

My GF is going insane.
The other day she told me to use her Dell 6000(?) instead, but I dont want that piece of crap on my lap either..

The only way to have acer address bios update issue seriously is to show how maney people require that, I suggest we instantiate a thread with a pool, and vote to address 2 issues:

1- Fan control
2- Support for DDR400

also Acer should tell people that want to update their Bios for these 2 things what are the pros/cons of having these 2 options on.

By all means I'm with you on that.

It'll probably need to be a large vote though. ???

yes, it has too, that's why we need to contact all people that we know they have ferrari and push them into voteing.

one more thing, in your wishlist you have

Matching Modular Hard Drive Bay

what is that?
I want the modular HD bay that cosmetically matches the Ferrari 4005 case.

It basically replaces my optical drive with another hard drive.

Everyone comes in the new thread-pool
