Hi,
I bought this unit about 3.5 years ago. From time to time it would just not boot. The power light comes on, the drives spin up, but it never posts. There is no external video either, ruling out the LCD. I would tap on the bottom of the unit and it would work for a week, sometimes a month. Now however it is not coming back. It's been 2 days of me messing with it. I contacted Sager support and they don't want to know me as my 3 year warranty is expired. I've had the unit apart completely and didn't see anything obvious. No cracks, no lose connections (that I can see), so now I'm about to start replacing components. I did try the proc in my p4 desktop and it works. Would the external video still work if the inverter is bad? I was originally going to replace the motherboard but the first problem I ran into was Sager won't sell me one. I can go to Clevo directly but they are talking about $700 for a new board. Heck I could go buy a whole used unit for that. I found someone online that will swap it for a used board and that is $325. I don't want to do that though without some way of knowing for sure that is the problem. The model number on the board is 71-56P00-D03. If anyone has some ideas I sure would appreciate it.
I'm new here so please forgive me if my problem sounds familiar. I looked through the forum but didn't see anything that is directly related to the problem I'm having. I have seen similal issues, but not related to my specific model so I don't know if it's the same thing.
