RTS/2D games or games that aren't too 3D intensive are fine with GMA. You won't get 3D performance on integrated so it all depends on your needs.

I played Warcraft 3 on my desktop with Intel Extreme graphics, which are even worse than GMA.

And then?

And then?

Did it rock? WHat res did you need to use?

There's playing where you can function then theres playing where you have fun, did you have fun?

Would my card be better than the GMA 900?

I've got a Compaq with a Radeon IGP 320M.. chew on that.
Works fine with WC3 if you don't care about having a totally 3D experience.
Decent... with Unreal 2003.
Fine with the original Counterstrike and HL1.

I'm guessing the GMA900 is more powerful than the 320M, and so there's your answer to GMA's potential gaming possibility.

I can't remember exactly, but it was a decent resolution with I think medium graphics settings. WC3 system requirements aren't all that high because the game is a few years old, so you can play it quite well with integrated graphics.

I did eventually get a video card so I could max out all the settings.

Warcraft 3 runs great at 1024x768 on my 700m so you can do at least that. Suddste223 your gfx would get raped by the gma900.

For the gma 900 Any game 6 mo old or older (with the exception of games that REQUIRE Hardware T&L) should be playable at moderate resolutions.

I can run WC3 at full resolution/full details smoothly on my X1's GMA900 - and the X1 only uses the GMS graphics chipset, so the GMA is actually clocked slower than in the GM chipset found on any non-ultraportable. I think the full speed GMA900 would have absolutely no problems. In my experience, these 2D/RTS games aren't very demanding and more would depend on the processor. My P3 desktop with a dedicated graphics card performs worse in RTS games than my 1.1ULV PM with GMA900, probably because of the processor speed (since everything else on my laptop is slower).

The GMA is not a bad graphics solution at all, provided you don't really have a need for 3D. Most users out there don't need good 3D performance.

What is better, the GMA or a Radeon 9000?

is that good or bad?

Also it would need a good CPU to play theese games well.

But don't most laptops have bad graphics?
technicaly true that "most" have bad graphics given all the $499 wonders out there but the latest and greatest notebook graphics are far from "bad".

Even the last generation can probably play just about everygame you throw at it. Anyone play F.E.A.R. on an M70?

Anyone with a Inspiron 1000 can you try this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...r/default.mspx and then click on and scan. Please let me know the result! Thanks!

Yes I've played fear on my M70,1024x768 medium settings, some af and aa,3/4 through the game I had to cut down on some quality because it got a bit jerky in some bits,if I could get the upload of images to work I could show screenshots of quality settings and FPS as I purposely set the quality at the same as another guy with an acer8104 just for interest and my frames were about 50 or more percent better than his X700,which really surprised me as there is only about 10-15% difference in between the 2 machines in 3Dmark05

But how good graphics can you get and still carry it around with one hand?

hows World of warcraft on these graphics? lots of ram could boost the performance? i wonder if at a low resolution the game could run smoothly

I think we're both waiting to see how good the GMA900 is!
