FS: Brand New Sealed Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD

Hi ya all, got a brand new not refurbished Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD monitor sitting in my room. It has a 3 year warranty from dell that should expire October 7ish 2008, my dad bought it with his Dell 9100 Desktop and I traded him my old 2405FPW for his new one. This one still is sealed up.

Asking $835 + shipping/insurance. Retails on dell.com for $1199. Usually you can get about 10% off so it will go for $980+shipping/taxes. About a week ago there was a 35% off sale that lasted for all of about 7hours and that was the lowest price for the monitor at $779.35+24handling+~61taxs = $864 shipped. Prefer USPS money orders (seem to be best method of payment, just recently got screwed over by paypal.)

I think price is pretty reasonable and definitely tons cheaper than the $1500 HP and Apple 23" LCDs.

my ebay user name is studyboy37562. I currently have 100% positive feedback, total of 71, been a member since December of 2003 (including some big ticket stuff I sold such as another 2405FPW back in June, a Dell desktop, my old custom built desktop, $500 sennheiser HD600s etc).

I have also taken two shots of the 2405, first one is close in showing the box and the labeling "Dell 2405FPW" and second is the pile of boxes, being the 2405, another dell box, and my new M170 box ontop (with the actual notebook ontop of the stack). They are uploaded on my yahoo pics. Click on the links to see them.

Shoot me a PM if interested. Thanks all!

The monitor doesn't come with 3 yr when you buy it with a system and even you upgrade the warranty on the system the monitor's warranty cannot be transfered. Just a heads up.

I am in Provo, Utah. Will ship by FedEx Ground, guessitimate about $20-40 shipping and insurance is around $.90 per $100, so if you want to insure it, for $800 value, it'll be about another $6-$7. Shipping weight is 34lbs, dimensions ~30x18x11. So its not a small box, but really well packed.

Also, as for the warranty thing, I am sure it will transfer since I know for the last dell laptop I sold, there was a online form on dell.com where you could file the change of ownership. It is tracked by that service tag number on the dell branded stuff. The system btw, had 3 year warranty including the monitor and if you buy the monitor new from dell assessories, it also comes with a standalone 3year.

If it turns out in the unlikely hood the warranty doesn't transfer, I will very willingly handle any warranty work for you in the rare case of the LCD malfunctioning. It's not like I am a huge reseller of dell stuff whos afraid of getting blacklisted by dell. What you can do is just email me, I then contact dell and give them your address for them to issue to prepaid UPS pickup order and to ship the replacement monitor. However, I really doubt the warranty is need, I used a 2405FPW for 6 months now, and had a older dell 2001FP for 2 years and neither one has ever acted up. Plus, never really heard of any widespread problems with any dell ultrasharp monitor. I understand the warranty is for peace of mind though and I am will totally stand behind it.

I got a 2405, and I love it no problems at all, not sure I even have a warranty on it, but I don't think i'll need one!

Haha, amen brother. I am sure gonna miss my 24 incher. The XPS M170 that just came in looks positively tiny in comparision. It just might be my eyes, but 1920x1200 on a 24" screen is way more readable than on a 17". Dell monitors are dependable as heck, probaly because such a large proportion of Dell's customers are big businesses or government angencies that won't stomach widespread maintence problems. Up until now, Dell never was know for their cutting edge performance, but sticking with stodgy and dependable equipment has their pluses. However, I do wish future ultrasharps get that trulife glossy coat the XPS has. One of the girls that saw it even said it looked sexy . Oh, along with the flashing to the beat XPS lights . Thanks for the heads up BTW AWS.

DUDEEE....I was thinking the same thing when I had my gen2,,,At 1920x1200 I couldn't read anything, I had it set down to 1024x768...But on this 24 inch I have it at 1920x1200 and its Very legible and doesn't hurt my eyes at all.

Way to go DELL!

Hehe, hear that folks? Rockinfella told ya to buy this specific monitor from me. Now be good boys and girls and listen to him!

Oh yea, and I just noticed your profile, my family used to live in Gilbert, Arizona too. Still got tons of friends going to ASU, one of them is actually on the ASU dance team that performs at football games and another one who graduated last year used to play for the team. Great place during the winter, summers are killers though. Look forward to visiting them during winter break.

Laptops are very nice (reason why I am in a notebook forum after all) but in the name of mobility, sacrificing screen size sure hurts. Thank god Dell came out with a lappy that at last has a desktop level performance graphics solution at a reasonable price and practical size. Truthfully, I think they nailed the Gen 2s and M170s. 17" is just big enough to be a full desktop replacement since most peeps use 17-19" LCDs or CRTs for their desktop and the Centrino CPU gives the XPS some legs for mobile work along with being semi-practical for lugging around in a handy size.

The links to the photos don't work anymore. You may want to fix that or upload it to another free host that is more reliable.

Try http://www.putfile.com/

That is a great price for that monitor.

I would love to get a monitor like that but unfortunately, my Precision m70 (although it is in WUXGA resolution) does not have DVI port so it may not be worth it to buy such a good monitor for me. I may be wrong though.

Ok, uploaded pics to another site, appears to be working now. Also, Vancomycin, just to let you know, VGA works great on the monitor too. I had my 2405 shared between two computers, dvi with my custom laptop and vga through the ati9600pro of my old Dell i8600 and the vga looked great, just gotta make sure to configure the contrast and rgb stuff right. Comon guys, I know I am not offering too bad a price. Thats what these monitors are going for on ebay but they are usually refurbished without a warranty and ebayers charge exhorbiant shipping/handling to boot. However, I really need money fairly soon so if I don't get any offers in the next several days, I am gonna have to turn to ebay.
