Gonna order the 4080-s tomorrow...what do you think?

Thread Starter
After quite a bit of research I think I've finally settled on the new 4080...seems to be fit what I want, as well as my budget...hehehe

What are your thoughts on this machine?

15" SXGA LCD High Contrast/Glossy (from what i've read~Very Nice )
2.8Ghz P4 800 FSB w/ HT
Radeon 9600 Pro 128
512mb PC3200
60GB 5400 (4800RPM would be a huge bottleneck right??)
DVD/CD-RW Combo
integrated Camera
6-in-1 Card Reader
No OS as I can get XP-Pro free through school
12V Car adapter (the only time I'll be away from an outlet is on the road...hehehe)
3yr Warranty
10.75"(D) x 13"(W) x 1.7"(H)
7.5lbs w/ battery

I was gonna go with 1024mb of the ram, but don't have the cash for that and the warranty, i opted for the warranty because i can always upgrade the ram myself. What do you think about no OS? I figure it can't be that hard to install all the drivers myself, anybody think differently? Also, I went without the internal wireless because I plan to buy an Orinoco Gold a/b/g card which a friend uses and is constantly excited about how awesome it is compared to others'.

Not bad for my first laptop hey? Also, does anybody have any good pics of a 4080 or the 4060? or if the Physical Dimensions above are accurate? Thanks for the input and all the info I've gained over the last few months just reading here.

You shouldn't have a problem, and if you do just let us know on the forums and we should be able to help.

Let us know how they are!
I am still trying to decide between a 4080 and a 5680...That UXGA screen is calling out my name!
Anyway, from all the lurking I've been doing recently, it seems like you can't lose with any of these laptops.

yea if you can get xp cheaper somewhere else, or for nothing, than go for it. It won't be hard at all the install windows yourself, you could probably figure it out without any help.
