Ok, thanx. that's who I bought the adapter from... didn't realize he sold the battery too. The title for his battery listings state that it is a Genuine Dell part, but in the description, it doesn't actually mention that it is an actual Dell battery, just that it is compatible. Anyone ACTUALLY order from hoctcomputers and received the battery?

Thanks

Here's a battery that says ORIGINAL in the title and description from the same people.

Thanks for those that contributed the great information. I am waiting on my PM 1.60 to PIN mod off E-Bay for $93.00. I just won an E-Bay bid on a 6800 Ultra card for $160.00. Next and lastly are the battery and AC adapter. I'll be selling my Go card after things are up and running good. Once again, great detailed information and I hope it goes successfully. I'm pretty confident in my skills to do the job.

My current 3DMark05 score is 4300 with the Go card. I used NVTweak to bump it up from about 3400. Hopefully I'll see some good results.

I'm not worried about screwing it up. I just didn't know if they would bother looking at the video card and seeing that the thermal pad had been removed.

Hi there folks, i haven't bought my i9300 yet, but i'm seriously considering it. and of course adding a 7800GTX to it. But of course I have a few questions first

- Does the 9 cell battery stick out from the casing?
- How long will the battery last only running on the 9 cell battery.
- What do 7800GTX go for @ ebay? (i'm currently watching this, but i might get a faster answer here)
- And once you flash the bios, will you have to repeat these steps everytime you format og reinnstall windows?

I know this is alot, but thanks in advance

Merry christmas to all!

ok

-No the battery doesn't stick out
-2 hours
-read the thread "How I got my 7800 for $259" and you should see how much they cost
-bios has nothing to do with windows installs so No you don't have to reflash

you seem like a nice enough guy and welcome to the forums but please take some time to use the search function and just review some of the threads. You will find the "How I got a 7800 for $259" right up by the top.
Hehe, i know how the search function works. I'm not new to other forums

But you see, I live in a cold country up north called Norway. I can't just call the u.s and make them ship a gpu to me. (At least a assume I have to go through the Dell norway system...)

So, it will still run good on a 9-cell on a i9300 after the flash? Or will it always be in low power mode when its on battery, and, if I dont have a video card (the intel integrated card), Can I still install a 7800? Thanks!
Haha, well first of all Merry Christmas to all of you. Reading owns me and wish I had found post #156 on page 11 before ordering everything. I basically wanted to upgrade my 9300 ATI 64MB rig to the Go6800 Ultra. Well really want the Go7800 GTX but I'll get it when funds allow.

To do the upgrade in a 9300 from the ATI to the 256MB GeForce I think all you do is basically swap it out. BUT since I have now have everything needed now for the Go7800 I'll go ahead and hang on to the Power Supply, and the battery still works.

Here is the original short book I wrote on the problem I was originally having. I WILL STILL NEED a solution to this because I'm assuming this would be happening with the Go7800 GTX

Guru

----------------- ORIGINAL SHORT BOOK (Power Supply Problem) -----------------

First off, Merry Christmas to all. Thanks for the nice write up here IRobertus. I just purchased a nice Inspiron 9300 off of ebay and have had it about 3 weeks. It came with the built in ATI 64mb video card. I was surprised it actually was able to play Call of Duty and Battlefield 2 at decent resolutions but like all things I wanted to upgrade. I didn’t have the money to go for a Go 7800 GTX but did get a steal of a deal on a Go6800. I purchased all items needed and burned my Bios ISO. This are the EXACT items I purchased.

GeForce Go6800 Ultra $90 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6831513041

Dell PA-13 Power Supply $19.90 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6832002032

Original Dell Inspiron Battery G5266 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6769513691

Everything is working sweet now that things are back together EXCEPT 1 thing. This power supply is not being recognized. It’s the strangest thing. If I have it plugged in when I start the computer I get this error message and it won’t start. Now I can start on battery and once it gets past POST as soon as you see Windows XP coming up I can plug in the AC adapter. The computer will start normally and you’ll see the little icon showing that you have AC power to it. Now if while in Windows you unplug the AC adapter and then plug it in again you’ll get a QuickSet (windows) error. Well even though it isn’t charging the battery it is running off of the AC adapter because you can remove the battery and it still remains on. Is there some fix I can download, registry hack, something? I have the latest A05 Bios installed.

ANY INFO APPRECIATED, thanks. Here are the error messages.

FIRST BOOT UP ERROR - “The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. The system can only boot with a 130 W power adapter or greater. Strike the F1 key to shutdown.” (you have to start on battery then plug AC adapter in)

Windows Error once machine is on and running and you plug in – “The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 130W AC adapter or higher for best system operation. (you don’t get this error message if you plug in the AC adapter right after POST before logging in to Windows)

UPDATE: I just plugged in the original 90W AC Power Adapter and this is the error or notification message I get but it IS charging the battery.

90W AC Power Adapter has been determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery may take more time to charge. Please connect a Dell 130W AC adapter or higher for best system operation.

I WENT back to the 9300 A05 bios and everything is working sweet now.

I'm not answering your question, simply because i don't know what the problem is. Did you flash correctly?

But I did read post #156. Did i understand this correclty? You can install the 6800NU without using 9CELL battery and 130W PSU, but if you want to use a 6800U you must use the 9CELL and 130W PSU?

PS: Would anyone be willing to buy and ship a 7800GTX for me, through Mark. (I'll pay of course. I don't think norwegian sales representatives are as loose as this Mark :P

The problem is the power supply.

Yep I flashed properly and even updated to the latest XPS2 bios the A05 one. Anyway, when I had it like that I had problems with the power supply. Keep in mind I'm not running the 7800 but upgraded from a ATI 64mb to the 6800.

After reading more of the post and thinking about it. I thought to myself, Dell sales the 9300 with the Go6800 Ultra as an option so that bios HAS to work. So I reverted back to the A02 9300 bios via the ISO I burned then updated the bios and bam no problems. Running sweet and on the 90W power supply that came with my 9300.

The only reason I posted was because I will eventually want to go with the 7800 GTX especially seeing that I know have the powersupply and the 9 cell battery.

The 9300 never came with an Ultra, ever I dont think (please correct me). It's incredibly odd that a 9300 would work with a 6800Ultra at all, never mind all you to use a 90watt. Anyway, if it works be happy . However, if you start rebooting/crashing in games, you'll need a 130watt PSU.

Correct Bios

I've installed the 7800 in my 9300 notebook. I flashed the bios before installing the new card with the cracked XPS bios and after installing the card flashed again with A05 bios.

I think I may have flashed with the incorrect A05. Could someone post the date of the correct A05 Bios / or a link to it?

Thanks,
Allen

Okay, i'm about to buy my i9300 now, before I do, i have one more question:

If i ask to get the 130W PSU instead of the standard 90W, will this work without flashing the bios? (sales rep. might be a little curious if he knows it doesn't)

Well I don't really know if this is an Ultra or not but the guy I purchased it from says it came out of a XPS2 and it's working sweet right now on my 9300. On the Dell site they just describe it as a 256mb Nvidia Go6800. Is this one that I'm running now NOT THE ONE Dell sells as an upgrade?

GeForce Go6800 Ultra $90 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6831513041

This card is working fine with the 90W power supply because I flashed the bios back to the latest 9300 A05 one and I'm suspecting 9300's don't require a 130W power supply.
IF POSSIBLE, I would like to see if there is a solution though for that 130W power supply problem. Now that I have the 130W power supply and battery all I need is the 7800 GTX and bam. If someone could give some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you will need the 130W PSU to run 6800U at full clockspeeds. It will most likely run @ 90W, but i don't think it's the most reliable way to power a 6800U.

At least my approach to this guide tells me that you would need a XPS2 PSU to run it perfectly.

I think you're confused with the graphpic cards here.

GeForce 6800NU (Non-Ultra) is the one thats featured as a upgrade with i9300, only requires a 90W PSU.
GeForce 6800U (Ultra) Is the stock XPS2 GPU, this needs a 130W PSU to run smoothly.

Ahhh ok, well that makes sense. The card I purchased is out of a XPS2 and is an Ultra. Well I'm playing Call of Duty 2 currently at 1400x900 with AL on and at with the highest detail settings with no problems.

Once again I DO HAVE the 130W power supply but I'm getting error messages when using it. I did email the ebay seller and he agreed to exchange or refund it if needed. I would like to try to resolve the issue so that I CAN use the 130W PS.

This is the original post explaining the problem with the 130W PS. It was flashed with the latest XPS2 A05 bios and was still giving this error. - http://www.notebookforums.com/showpo...&postcount=229
