I use DVD decrypter but that isn't available anymore. maybe DVDFAB decrypter? You just need something that will write in ISO mode.

I think the free tutorial of Alcohol 120% will burn ISOs.

OK, got the video card installed. Followed the instructions, but everytime I attempt to install the Nvidia drivers, it says "Could not locate any drivers that are compatable with your current hardware."

Suggestions???

OK, got it all installed, but the Nvidia drivers are giving me grief. I keep getting the error "Nvidia setup program could not find any drivers that are compatable with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

Suggestions?

If you are downloading drivers from Nvidia website they won't work. Those drivers are for desktop cards not laptops. In my opinion the best drivers come from www.tweaksrus.com Make sure you get the mobile force drivers.

OK, got the video card installed and windows is operating fine, but the Nvidia drivers will not install. I keep getting "There are no drivers installed compatable with your hardware. Installer will close now."

I found the web page, but I am having trouble finding the correct driver for my go7800gtx on a 9300. Do you mind pasting the link for the one you are talking about?

Thanks,

This is the newest mobile force driver. This should work just fine. I'm running it on my 9300. There is a driver for XP and one for Vista http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?o...805&Itemid=41/

I've tried the latest forceware drivers (and at least 4 versions of laptop-to-go drivers, and the dell official xps2 drivers) for my 6800 ultra, but nothing is solving this "blue pinstripe" problem I'm having. I noticed that two other people in the last few pages seemed to have the same issue. I've driver-cleaned multiple times, but this problem with dark blue pinstripes isn't going away. The problem kicks in once I install the drivers; in safe mode, the video is perfectly fine. Also - the pinstripes show mostly on dark colors; some of my desktop icons have been made dark and illegible combinations of blue and black. I'd really appreciate any advice you guys could give me - should I return the card, perhaps?

You need the modified INF to make the drivers work with laptop cards.

FINALLY!!!!

My I9300 finally has a working go 7800 gtx!!!! I checked PC Wizard says my video card is currently clocking at 398.5 and 1063.1 Mhz.

Special thanks to Disillusion, Dougadamsfan and Primu$ without your input and advice I would never have had the stones to attempt this upgrade.

Oh and sorry for the scewy posts, last night, my computer was not happy yet.

Oh, and my wife is very impressed with my new found technical ability, this page is better than Levitra...

Ok, sorry to be hogging the thread, but here is my 3DMark05 score. 5228. Not sure how good that is for this type mod, but watching it, it looked 100% better than it did with the X300.

Peace,
j

That's not that good for a 7800 GTX. My 6800 Ultra with original clocks got 5295 on 3DMark05. I get a tad over 6052 with the overclock.

You're sure that you got a 7800 GTX and not a 6800 Ultra? What CPU do you have?

All of the hardware reviews that the benchmarks give say go7800gtx. I assumed the low score was due to my cpu. The scores for cpu were pathetic. My 1.86 isn't the power house one would choose.

Any test I can run that would be definitive?

The card averaged about 30 fps during the video card testing. Is that good?

I still have a glitch in my windows. When I open explorer to look at folders it goes directly to not responding for the explorer?

I keep testing and let you know. Please send any suggestions for isolating issues.

Peace,
j

My 9300 came with the 1.86 chip. I upgraded to the 780 chip @ 2.26. It made a bigger change in my system than going from a x300 to the 6800 Ultra. I did the graphics upgrade first and was impressed but the 780 chip really makes it fly. It also makes it really hot too. my cpu will hit 75 degrees celsius and my gpu will hit 95 after 30 min of bf2. As far as your glitch in windows, did you disable any services lately? Was it doing this before your graphic upgrade?

I hit 6600 with stock 7800 GTX clocks and a 1.86 CPU. I would say your driver needs to be uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled.

Cool, thanks for the tip. I have ordered a 745 Dothan and will pin mod it to 2.45. I also have the WUXGA monitor coming.

The glitch was there before the mod. I suspect the problem is that I have been using this lappy for work on a regular basis, and have installed and removed probably a dozen programs in the past six months.
I am attempting to find a windows install download/disk, but have not succeeded yet. Dell shipped the darn thing with it on the partition, but without the CD. I downloaded a windows disk creator the other day that is supposed to create six windows install disks. I am hoping that they will have the repair function built into them.
I have also run PC Pitstop. It is supposed to clean up the registry. It did improve performance, but the glitch and svchost is still a problem.
I am worried about the heat. I don't plan to over clock the GPU just for that reason.

Open to suggestions.

Ok, I removed all of the nvidia driver, then reinstalled it. I ran the 3dMark05, veresion 1.3, it still gives me a about a 5800. The CPU scores are terrible but the Video Card seems to be doing very well.

I looked for another test and found the Video Card Stability Test, using the benchmark test the video card got a 1641, which according to their scale is very good for the card. The list 1314 for an XPS with the same video card.

So, I am not sure what else to do, to get the 3dmark05 scores up.

Suggestions?

Why do you need to get a new 9 cell battery in adition to the 130 watt adapter? I do have a 80WH battery in addition to 2, 53 WATT (one free from dell due to defect). Is this 80WH a 9cell battery? I am looking at a go 6800 ultra for around $200, Is the 7800 worth doubling the pirce? and one last question, would a 150 watt power adapter work also? Any help to these questions thanks alot.
The 80WH is the 9 cell battery. i really don't know about the 150 watt adapter. I wanted to get a 7800GTX but refuse to spend the wanted price. the last few I saw on ebay went for around 480. I only spent 1000 on my laptop new.
