HOW-TO: Upgrade your 9300 with the Ultra or 7800 "Photo Guide" - Page 43

I used that bootdisk to flash to begin with BUT I am scared to flash back because the version of the 9300 bios on the disk is A02; I am worried if I flash that then I will leave my laptop useless!

I wish it did, because then I could go back to the quick POST instead of the thorough POST because of the XPS not having a SATA drive.

Flashing to an A02 BIOS wont hurt a thing.

the point here is that I did have the original 9300 bios and it (sorta) worked, at least with one of my power adapters, but now I flashed with the xps bios (then upgraded to the XPS version A05); I guess I will just have to buy the 9 cell battery and be done with it.

I have just flashed to hacked bios and then to the 05 bios for XPS Gen2.
Now i want to return to the Inspiron 9300 Bios, but the flash utility say me that the inspiron 9300 bios is not the right bios.
Is there the possibility to return to the inspiron bios with an hacked inspiron 9300 bios?

Excuse me for my silly question. In the iso linked in the first page there is an hacked bios for 9300 and XPS.

Now my 7800GTX doesn't work, so i am so .. so... hungry...

Flash the hacked inspiron9300 02 bios and then reflash immediatly with the 05.

The system work either with the 7800GTX and the 6800Go with both bios (inspiron or xps is the same).
The system work's even with the 90W power adapters (with the 90W the system work in low consumption mode with the porcessor hal power and GPU in 2d vid mode).
With 6 cell battery the system doesn't start.

Hey just to let you know that I recently put the 7800gtx into my system which was flashed with dell 9300 bios A05 and the card was recognised ok

However my windows experience score dropped from 4.1 to 3.2

So I decided to reflash to the hacked then upgrade again, and guess what? I had to put in a different drive and load up xp, cos the hack routine cant write to the vista disk

No big deal, just time delay. Flashed the hack xps2 a01 then the latest xps gen2 bios ao5 from dell and windows experience back up to 4.1 (and the 4.1 is the cpu limit) gpu was 5.9 graphics, 5.3 gaming graphics

I'm not sure if its just an anomoly as I didnt benchmark the card under that bios (9300 a05) on 3dmark6, but thought I''d let you all know in case someone runs into this in the future

(this is the disk iso that needed XP, not tried the usb key method)

Just read 30+ pages and found little talk about restoring the bios. Anyone have info on how to flash a 9300 that's been modded with the hacked xps2 bios to support a 6800 Ultra back to the stock bios. Sending my 9300 back to dell today and want to avoid any complications

-from the first post...I dont know which cd you used to flash the xps bios but it should have the hacked 9300 bios on there as well

arg...why didn't you post earlier...I would've been more than glad to buy that pinmoded cpu off of you for my pm 2.0
If you replaced that too (I doubt it, probly just removed the pin) before returning contact me as I dont want to run the risk of getting a 1.8 that doesnt oc to 2.4 on ebay

Here's an issue...My current vid card is a 6800 go, however, I've been recently having problems with it, and reading the forums it looks like it's going bad. I can't boot up in regular windows mode anymore as it just gives me a garbled mess onthe screen for 2 secs and then goes into standby mode. I can, however, go into windows safe mode.'ve committed to doing the upgrade to the 7800gtx and getting the components. My question is...am I going to be able to do this install/mod in safe mode?
the bios flash you do from the boot cd, so that is in DOS, thus it should not be a problem

Getting my Vid Card today so I'm gonna try it out. Hopefully all goes well. Skeetjlt's link doesn't seem to be valid anymore. Going to try the other one I found on page 55. Crossing my fingers.

Sounds like you are using a newer driver, correct? Go ahead and use something like the 92.91 driver from www.laptopvideo2go.com

The newer drivers don't like our slightly order cards very well. The 90's series drivers work just fine though.

i download the 92.91, and run the .exe files. it show the driver can not find the hardware?? In the Gen2 BIOS show its Nvidia 7800GTX. am i download the wrong files?
