Maybe call it a M80 or something. Too many 17" can be a a big downfall...why not go for a 19" then

it would be awsome, but then again i do like my 17inch screen, looks so good next to a 14inch machine, just really huge....

What about this: M40 (1.8Ghz,512mb DDR, 2 year warranty) vs. M70 (2.0Ghz,512mb DDR2, 1 year warranty) for about the same price? Thnx a million

How about the screen, is it good as compaq screen? Can anyone tell me? Coz I'm still confused which laptop should I buy.

extra warranty is nice, there is a difference in processor but othewise the performance will be fairly similar between them.... your call

I'm now so confused about which one to buy... I wouldn't call the M70 as an "M40 replacement" but the M40s are really disappearing from shops! Bad move to take the M40 instead of the M70?

I've had both and the M70 is the better machine. It has most of the annoying little details from the M40 worked out(i.e. noisy disk drive, delicate feel). That is also not even mentioning the 5400rpm SATA hard drive and DDR2 memory.

Someone also asked about heat production... I would say that has also improved over the M40... its not bad at all.

BTW, I should be getting my memory this week. I went straight to 2GB so I won't be using my 512MB(DDR2, PC4200) stick anymore. If anyone is interested in it pm me, otherwise I will just be selling it on ebay.

Much better than any Compaq. Toshiba have some of the best screens, period.

Totally better, no doubt about that!

@BoarderEX - that's great news! The local shop has just replaced the M40s with the M70s so it's not like I really have a choice Unfortunately, it'll have to wait till Chrismas

Cheers all

same here..im waiting for the christmas/boxing day sales

hopefully, with the early December price drop YP5 mentioned and the christmas sale, it'll bring the prices down. It'll be nice if they can also package a free printer like the back to school sales early in September.

the lineup had already made a complete circle around the store. when i finally got in, most of the deals were gone arleady.

i guess i have to spend my christmas night at the futureshop entrance this year....

A printer would probably be an easy thing to get them to throw in. Printers are pretty cheap now and I believe the mark up is still significant. Trust me, it pays to play tough with the salesmen. I was relentless with them but it paid off because I am pretty sure when boxing day rolls around I will still feel good about my purchase.

When I returned my computers to Dell (they were f'd) they didn't even want the printer, they said. Heh. Too bad I won't be buying ink from them however.

you can bargain with the sales at futureshop? I thought they could only sell according to the price listed on their computers

It's not like that, it's more like half a centimetre from the bottom and top on my model, and since the M70 is a single bulb, it's just the bottom there.

You won't even notice it unless you pay attention.

If the light leakage is really just half a centimetre then it's nothing to worry about IMO
post #99 of 108
yeah that would be minimal for sure....

I'm still a little worried about the heat produced by this notebook... Can someone please say something about this as it's quite important to me. Thnx a lot
