Dual HDD question

Thread Starter
Hello,

Im confused with this old thread claiming I can't use my 51m 7700 with 2 HDD in addition of my DVDRW:

http://www.notebookforums.com/showpo...8&postcount=45

maybe they were speaking about an old model in 2k4 no ? because I have checked manually and I have enough space for:

2 x HDD 2.5" (with a master and slave connection)
+
2 Optical drives (with a master and slave connection)

1) so I should be able to run correctly 2xHDD with at least 1 dvdrw right ?
2) I know I can put a 2.5" HDD but can I put some 2.5" variants as
2.5" x 1/8H (as the Seagate Momentus 7200.1 ST980825A - hard drive - 80 GB - ATA-100)
2.5" super slim
etc ?

thank you.

The thread you found is about a year old or so and it refers to the older AW 766 mobile system which is now discountinued (AW sells these as recertified systems now), it could only hold one internal hard drive and an additional optical unit or hard drive in the smart bay.

The optical drive on the 766 was swappable so you could slide a second hard drive in it when needed (AW sold these smart bay hard drives for a while) but you could not have the two hard drives and the optical drive inside the system at the same time.

The Area 51m 7700 has space to hold two internal hard drives and two optical units at the same time, hence its huge size.
