Inspiron 8500 docked IRQ conflicts

Ok, I've been tring to get help from Dell for almost 9 months now so I thought I'd ask here.

When I dock then power up there was no drive listed. I checked my device manager and somehow I now have IRQ conflicts between my com1 and my secondary IDE channel. I tried disabling my com ports in the BIOS and nothing. If I undock it works fine.

The only way I've been able to get around it is to start windows and then dock. It will then give the docked com port and different IRQ and the CD will still work. I wish I had a better answer but this works.I'd love to get someone to tell me how to fix it.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Dunno how much this might help but...
There's basically two levels of automatic IRQ sharing--one at the BIOS level and the other at the Windows level.
You might check your BIOS user options (if there are any) about how your machine handles IRQ sharing. This is sometimes called PCI Plug N Play settings.

Nothin there. Even when docked its like the BIOS doesn't see the dock. Every I8500 owner I've talked to says the same thing and has the same problem.
