Travelmate 8103 wireless range

Thread Starter
Has anyone else had poor performance with the built in wireless card on their travelmate notebooks. I am using a belkin wireless DSL router and my wifes old notebook has a greater range then mine which is quite dissapointing.

I have used the netstumbler program to find the best location for the router in my house and right now I am less then 10 feet away from it and my SNR is -35Db which im sure you know isn't very good for being that close so my question is there any way to boost my signal from the notebook without buying a new router because as I said my wifes signal is great even at further distances then what I am at now.

Thx in advance for your replies.

I olso got a AS 1692 (Intel BG 2200 Pro) and don't realy suffer from the range but from the stability of the link. So I'm going to buy a PCMCIA card: a netgear WG511T
which should solve my problem.

Hi, my 1801 has a very good range, from where my aerial is on the top floor of my house it'll work three floors away in the garden and still show 'very good'.

Just wondering if i bought a PCMI WiFi card or dongle to increase the range, would it conflict with the internal WiFi software/signal at all?
