Moses, everything I said was directed at Adrenolin, not you. Also, apologies to Adrenolin for the sudden flame-back. I didn't know that u misinterpreted what Moses said.

Sorry Prona, Adrenolin had deleted his comment by the time I got to look at it, so it was not clear. Cheers Moses2000

Remember guys (as I OC my desktop) that voltage doesnt necessarily kill, heat does.

No voltage, does kill. You can run a CPU at too high a voltage on liquid nitrogen and still kill it. There's electrical and thermal limits to every working piece in a computer.

Moses2000.. checkout the eBay seller 'paylessss'. I got my 1.8 from him as have a number of others here who have pinmodded them successfully. I notice that he's currently got 1.6, 1.8 and a 2.0 CPUs available.

i have ordered from him, he sent me the worng cpu, got a 1.8 instead of a 1.6

I remember reading about that. Lucky you! I got mine for about 140.00 shipped. Been very happy with it since installation!

To everyone else successful: What was required for your cpus and what is your max load while running prime95? I'm curious -- my 2.4 required grounding VID0,1, and 2, for 1.452 and my max temp while running Prime95 is about 87. At 1.436 I get about 86 but I get errors once in a while. Doing 0,1 and 2 works pretty well though, on battery I don't lose all that much time. I want a 9 cell soon anyhow.

Originally I had VID4 grounded and I booted at 1.596 LOL... loading windows got the cpu up to 89-90 degrees C and priming worked fine because I thermal issues always dropped the CPU down to 1.833 GHz.. Haha.

Oh, and thanks for the rep.

Thanks for the heads up Adrenolin. I am in Australia, and he only ships within the States. Luckily I have a sister-in-law over there, so if he is OK with shipping to her I should be in luck.

Cheers.

HOLY SCHNIKES THAT'S HOT . You really want to get those temps down if you want to have any life in your chip. Extra voltage + hot chip = dead chip much sooner. How's your thermal grease application? Is it as thin as can possible be? Even at those volts (1.452v) you should be getting max 65C load temps.

No problem, thanks for the software .

what is the possibility of pulling off a 2.8...what kind of voltage would you need

About .00001%...more than you can get.

b b b b b b b bomb!

Most 7X5 chips won't do anywhere near 2.8 even with amazing cooling and high voltage. Most of the 2.8+ or higher OC's were done by the newer 750-780's.
is [sl]ultratobias part of the dell board????i heard he has a 2.8
post #157 of 565
He had a 780 2.26ghz chip. I've seen those do 3.0ghz+.

OH btw: thank you for rep, mr.k6!
well im prolly gonna try a 765, ive got everything possible crossed and im gonna hope for the best it will work when i do it
post #159 of 565
Best of luck buddy. I'd recommend grounding VID4 right off the bat. That should give it about 1.6V. You can lower the voltage with RMCLOCK if it boots up stable.
ya i was looking at that program hazridi made and it seems if i ground vid 0,1,and 4 it would give me 1.644, 1.580, and 1.516, which even if it does work i dont think it will run on any lower voltages. but heres how i see it: even if it doesnt work i can still lower the multiplyer to get 2.66, 2.53, and the lowest id go 2.4. so i'd like to try cause it would be nice to have it
