Here I can select 17x multiplier with RM clock man, try it.. =P
post #482 of 565

2.0 ---> 2.67 pinmod

ok it works

but at 1.596V it gets a bit hot, 79C but runs prime ok
i re-silvered the cpu but it's the same temp so that's not it...
at 1.580V it runs prime ok but still hot 77C or so & i can't lower the voltage anymore or prime gives errors after about 9 min......
is it ok to run these high temps for long periods?
cpu idle is around 37C
i tried NHC to reduce the clock to 2.4 at a lower voltage and that's better at about 69C but my 1.8--->2.4 mod is already good for that so ... how would i get a 19X multiplier to stick using rightmark or something?(NHC only skips from 20X to 18X)

i'm not sure if i should keep my engineering marvel or sell it and go for the 1710(i was going to sell it but the fact that the 2.0->2.67 worked it's kinda cool )

Ok guys, before I tear open this notebook once again, I just have a few questions I hope someone can answer. I have Volt modded 1.42(vid0,2) my 1.8->2.4 Mhz. Currently with NHC I can be prime95 stable for over 12 hrs at 2.13, with temps at 61 @ heavy load. If I were to AS5 one more time, and volt mod vid1 to get 1.45V, would it possibly be stable at 2.4 Mhz? What kind of temps could I expect? Could I have V1,2,3 volt modded and then still use NHC to drop it 2.13 and be ok if it doesn't work at 2.4, or would it be best to undo some of the volt-mod and see where it is stable to minimize the voltage going through the cpu. Thanks guys, this has been really fun modding my laptop.

If it were me, I'd just pin vid4. Will get you good selection of higher voltages, though you'll be booting at 1.596, but meh.

Mine was running perfect until I loaded Operation Flashpoint and now I'm getting hard freezes I've even gone up as high as 1.500 and still getting freezes and about 80C load (30C idle). May just be a stubborn chip. I may toss it and get another, or just lock it at 2.13Ghz and go on.

Can't decide

That's me. I can't decide. I think mine would be alright at 1.45V, however, I don't want the high temps to interfere. I will probably go to 1.45V, test it, and if it is not stable, keep it at 2.13 Mhz. I can get the heatsink, palm rest, and attach the display and boot it up, so I am not tearing down and putting it all the way together just to test it. Better have a safe environment though!

reporting successful 2.4 pinmod @ 1.452 (max temp 65C)
I'll buy it if it's too high for ya

Way to go man. It seems that most are having to do the volt-mod to 1.452 to get it stable. Did you prime95 it? I am thinking about re-applying AS5 on my GPU heatsink cause man, it seems idling I am at 66C. Does that seems high to anyone? Maybe I did not attach the heatsink good enough after the first time.

i primed for 2 1/2 hours...i dont really belive in prime cuz it doesnt test real stuff i do. its 100% stable in css, and it gave me an extra 17fps on average.

Hey, you guys that know a lot, I repeat the pin mod about 30 times, in many different ways and still didn´t work, what dell could have done to unable us to pin mod the nb? Please? =P

thnx

Need more detail.

Processor, notebook, mods tried, etc.
Processor: Dothan 745
Notebook: Latitude 120L (brazilian name for inspiron b130)

Pin mods tried:
-> Fsb increase from 100 to 133 mhz.
-> Overvolt (many tries, Vid0, Vid1, Vid2, Vid4, Vid0 + Vid1 + Vid2,etc..)
All failed.

I tried to put 2 wires in the same hole, but failed again.

By failed I mean: It turns on but without changing anything.

Even overvolt without fsb overclock failed. There is some way to unable overclock via software? I mean, maybe (?) the 120L bios knows how to read the clock of the cpu by his name, so 745 wouldn´t run at another fsb... Should I try to flash the b130 bios?

Thnx

pm mr9865. he did a pinmod in a b130. so ask him.

What motherboard does your notebook use? You can use CPU-Z to find out if you don't know. If the chipset is not 915, then you are out of luck and it will never work. It sounds like that might be it, because everything else sounds right. Also, the 745 has a pretty low success rate, but if the motherboard is right, we can deal with that later.
Looking around the b130 has the Intel 910 chipset which 400fsb only is it not?
The notebook came with a dothan 740 (13x133) and the mobo chipset is a 915GM (I opened the note and saw it). The 740 was working at 133fsb perfectly.

Only the mem that only works at 400mhz.

I dont want to run it at 2.4ghz, gonna set the 17x multiplier (or 16x) with RM clock after I boot (with a overvolt, i think it wont even boot at stock voltages and 2.4ghz).

Thnx timmy, I will PM him.

Bye everyone.

One more thing: Altough it didn´t work, sometimes i get blue screen with the pin mod on... It was kind of instable..

Use RMClock, I think NHC skips the next lowest step sometimes (IIRC)

TomahawkBR - I'm not quite sure here, but maybe jumping the pin doesnt reconfigure the memory controller to run at 4:3 instead of 1:1 (so its forcing your 400MHz DDR2 to run at 533MHz). Remember that it's a hardware mod that passes by the software, so the BIOS is still reading the chip as a 400FSB chip, and I'm willing to bet it's your RAM that's crapping out. If you can, try out a 533MHz and I'll bet she'll run like a million bucks .

TomahawkBR

Please use cpuz.
Tell us the memory you have.
If it's PC4200, or PC4300.

Here's the download link; Link

It is a samsung ddr2 533 pc4200. I forgot to say but my note only works with max memory clock of 400mhz, even when I was with the 740 working at 133mhz fsb.

Should I run memtest with the pin mod on or something like that?

Thnx
