No worries - far from insulted.. VERY thankful that you're taking the time to help me!

First, are you sure you joined C15 and C16? Try switching it to C16 and B16 and see if it makes a difference (sometimes some groundings dont get a good signal).
I'm almost 100% certain that I did this part correctly. My System Properties tells me that I'm using an "Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz, 2.13Ghz, 1.00GB of RAM." If I'd got the wrong hole or ground it improperly then why would it tell me that I've got a 1.60GHz processor running at 2.13GHz? My bios tells me that I'm using a 2.13GHz processor and NHC tells me that my Clock is running at 1866MHz @ 14x multiplier when running at Dynamic Switching.

Are you on maximum voltage in NHC?
Yes - unfortunately it won't go any higher.
Quote:
What is the maximum (stock) voltage allowed for you chip?
I'm not sure. It's a 400FSB Pentium M @ 1.6GHz - isn't the stock voltage pretty much standard for these cpus? If not, I guess I need to remove the pinmod (argh!) and check NHC to see what my voltage is when the cpu is running under heavy load?

What are your temps like?
As low as 22C when the aircon is on and as high as 55C when working outside in the Summer with very cpu-intensive applications running. I posted a thread before about this and everyone said that 55C isn't too bad and that Pentium M's can go as high as 90C or something ridiculous!

Did you use AS5 on the CPU? Did you re-use the original thermal sticker (major problem right there)?
Yes, I used a cleaning compound to remove the thermal pad (came with the AS5) and obviously AS5 on the CPU. However, I didn't put any AS5 on the GPU as I >never< play games and because the GPU temp hardly ever goes above 40C.
Will try this later when I can borrow a USB key. (My dvd-rw drive is broken so can't burn a bootable cd at the moment)

How's your ATiX300 holding up and is it overclocked?
Fine and not overclocked. Like I say - I never really play games. Actually, on a previous windows installation I installed BF2 and that had the same problems. (ran fine if I had the multiplier set to x14 but hard reset if it was set to x16)
Quote:
Have you changed any drivers recently?
Nope, it's always done this - from the time I first did the pinmod and reinstalled windows to now (10 months later).

Do you get a blue screen of death (BSOD) or does your comptuer just reboot? If it gets a blue screen of death, what is the message you get with it?
No it just hard resets - no BSOD. Sometimes it'll just endlessly hard reset once it gets into windows and I'll need to disable Speedstep in the bios, boot to xp and set NHC from "Max Performance" back to "Max Battery" or "Dynamic Switching" and then reboot and re-enable Speedstep.

Sorry, that's a lot of questions, but it'll really help me pin-point (no pun intended ) the problem. It's just that I've NEVER seen a 1.6 that wouldn't mod to 2.13GHz, so I have an inkling that something else is up. Answer those and we'll see what the next step is . |
No problem at all and once again, thank you so much for helping me! If we can assume for a moment that it ISN'T my ram that's playing up, what else do you think it might be? Cheers
