should work on either i915 or i910 chipset. main factor to contend with would be memory. if it is 533mhz(ddr2 pc4200) chances are it will work. MadCnty has his b130 running a p-m 735 @ 2.26ghz w/o voltage mod.

Pentium M 745A SL8QZ

There's not much info up on the web on this great little chip so I thought I'd contribute.

I picked up the Pentium M 745A SL8QZ off ebay recently for use with this awesome pin mod. I chose the SL8QZ over the regular SL7EN or SL8U6 because it's the only one that supports XD bit, it also happens to be an OEM only release and was made a year after the 'retail' versions (2005).

Anyway, what matters most is how well it overclocks and it doesn't disappoint. 2.4ghz on 1.308v (set in NHC) at 59c on load.

If you have to decide between this one or the SL7EN/SL8U6, I suggest you grab this one.

First off, thank you everybody for taking the time to share your experience and understanding with everyone.
I thought I'd go for a sure thing, not setting my sights too high and going for stability.
Bought an Intel Pentium M 725 off ebay for $15, just an hour ago stripped down my Inspiron 6000 and pulled the 730 out.
Booted with no Bsel0 ground, works fine, ground out Bsel0 and booted fine, except with default values for the processor, doh!
Tried a different wire, grounding to different VSS, double triple quadruple checked... no go!
So, finally gave up, try to get it back together before my wife gets home and sees what I'm doing (while cooking dinner) and BAM! The old 730 won't POST!
OMG
Soo, a couple tries later, what the hell, downgrade to the 725 until I can figure it out, slap it in and tighten 'er up.
Let it sit for a bit while I eat dinner, just for the hell of it run CPUZ, and WTF, idling at 798mhz, so rattle the mouse and drag a window a bit, bumps up to 2128, a succesful 2.13GHz overclock!
I have no idea what happened, why it didn't work for a bunch of tries, then all of a sudden kicks into high gear, but thank you so much everyone, cheapest upgrade ever.
Now when my RAM gets here I might have a duel between my Studio 1555 and my Inspiron 6000... I already know who'll win, but it might be a little closer now.

1.6 @ 2.13GHz, stock volt Pentium M 725 SL7EG idling at 25C

PS, don't tell my wife.

I guess i should add, before somebody assumes, yes I did remove the jumper before putting the old CPU back in.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the BIOS version, I can't remember if it was A07 Intel Chipset Driver.

I never disabled fast startup, so maybe the system was not detecting the CPU changes on every start?

Should try it next time when you swap CPU out. But I doubt that this has anything to do with CPU not being recognized.

cheers ...
