Did you guys mention your serial number? Because when you don't, Acer doesn't give you priority. Also, I didn't mail to the link given above. I live in Belgium and the application was designed for American e-mail addresses only ( .com, ... ; mine is .be ), so I mailed to Belgian support address.

And that's why I'm the only one who has gotten response? I have a hotmail address, but I also have a 3 year warranty extension with accidental damage, so mailing with my registered e-mail and mentioning my serial number gives me higher priority in their system. Also, mails u send go to a machine, mine go straight to an employee at Acer.

If I don't here something within a week I'll send another mail.

I'll keep u guys posted,

Tremor.

I emailed them and here is the response I received....

Thank you for contacting Acer America. I apologize for the delay in
responding to your email. Acer does not offer a BIOS update to allow the
system to support faster memory or offer fan control settings. The BIOS is
provided as is; that I know of Acer does not plan to implement a BIOS
update to offer these features. I'm sorry I am unable to assist with this
issue.

It's incredible!
However guys...I have an idea....

Is it possible to modify (without Acer help...) a bios file to allow this features ?
Someone that is able to program bios file can help us ?
It's the only solution

I got the same reply from the USA support and now I've sent an email to UK support.

I too got the same carbon copied reply.

A third party developer that had the experiance would be nice, but I would be worried about reliability, and frying the BIOS.

Maybe BIOS' are not as technical as I'm thinking they are, but with something bad in the BIOS, the whole system could have troubles.

Does not look good from this reply...

I got the same answer to that to. I would guess there is something more complex than a bios re-programme if they are flatly refusing to even take onboard the comments ?
I would think that fan speed \ noise versus heat is something ACER would have already researched in designing the notebook and maybe its just too much of a risk to lower the speeds and retain reliability in the machine ? Same quite possibly could be said about the lack of PC3200 memory support.

Has anyone ever heard of this site: eSupport.com???

I'm not in a position to be a guiny pig, but it's interesting, may not be worth it, but still interesting.
