A70 Memory upgrade

I have a custom built Toshiba A70.
I upgraded my memory from 256 MB to 1 GB from the expansion slot.
When I look at my configuration...I have another Memory slot with 256 MB.
So do the Math I have one slot with 256 MB and another with 1024 MB.
How can I access the other slot with 256 MB without damaging my Laptop???
Will my ATI motherboard allow me to upgrade to a total of 2 GBs.
Please help???

It looks like you have 256MB onboard memory and cannot upgrade it.

a70 and a60 = on motherboard memory + one expandable slot

i have A70, only 1 slot avaluable, other memory is on-board

Have you thought of going to the Toshiba website and find out what your max memory is for your model?????
