this is the color ordered on my new lappy. it is different than the colorshifting paint AW used to use in that his is activated by heat changes (which we all know happens in laptops). they used water to force a quick change in them
Maybe AW will do something cool like this.

Don't know about others, but I don't think I would pour water on my puter to see the colors change....lol

I think we can agree on that point. A wang imprint might bear consideration. Woops, wrong bear. Should be that be bare?

Doesn't care for greenish, purplish cloudy crappy looking color.

BUT, a graphic of the top of the 766 case, complete with ALIENWARE, done in Opulant Purple would be beyond cool.

Nebby that is low resolution making it look bad.

i know what you mean and the idea of it is cool.
But i dont think id like it, primarily because it would leave it looking cloudy and odd just because it is over a march larger space. And I'm guessin certain parts of a lappy would heat up more than others, so im guessing once youve past the initial turning it on phase, it would freeze at those colours.

is the reason why Alienware dosnt sell the Chameleon paint anymore because no one was buying it? / it was too expensive?
I'd be willing to bet it was expensive, especially when damaged in shipping.

It's been quite a while since the chameleon paint was offered at AW.

I think with the desktops, they have the manufacturer paint the cases, they arrive at the manufacturing facility already painted. With the laptops, I think they're painted before Clevo builds the base unit and sends it to AW. I wonder if the laptop case manufacturer isn't as flexible on paint as with the desktops...

I do think it's bad that the laptops come in only one color anymore, but at least it's a good color...

I want black.

I wonder what color it turns when you put certain bodily fluids on it...

If I was ridiculously rich, I would order an FX7, have it painted Cyborg Green with gills and ALIENWARE graphic, and have it sent to Alienware's President. Then maybe, they would get a clue.
I'm wishing I had 5 grand to blow, I would actually do this, less the sending it to South Florida part.

They must be doing something right...
