3880 CPU temps?

How do YOU test how hot the CPU is?

I was using this http://www.pbus-167.com/chc.htm and decided to test how hot it would get.

I installed it and cranked up SuperPi. I got the machine to do a 8M test.

The cpu reached 77C which is to hot in my opinion what else is everyone else getting? It would fluctuates from 75-77C as the CPU fan was starting to turn up which would keep it around that.

that software is not really very compatible with 3880... there are bugs if you dig through it. Plus it does not support nvidia gpu's. My temp never been above 70'c, under full load.

Also, we discussed this before, it does not enable my bus to go up from 66mhz fsb to 133mhz on battery mode. It gets stuck at 75mhz and nothing could be done....

I would suggest trying different progs for temp testing and comparing them all. However, high 70'c is a bit to high...

tried another program and it read out almost the same temp. Maybe 1-2 degrees off.

I use speedfan, right now my temp is 45 degrees. It goes to almost sixty when I game hard on it...you're definitely running hot. I don't know if its hot enough to cause all of your problems but it might, at least its symptomatic of it being not in the norm...Like I said, you might've got a lemon...
