i9300, blue screens.. drivers?

I maxed out a i9300 in july/august except 2gb of ram. I have a gig for now.

I get blue screens at random in some games. I forget what they say though. Unreal tourny 2004 did it a couple of times, and I couldn't get the new Brothers in Arms to play really at all the first time and didn't feel like rebooting. If I upgrade the drivers, will that solve the problem? I have the 256mb geforce card. Whats the best driver? And best way to install?

the driver i use is 78.11 from the Dell website, it's an .exe so you just uninstall your current driver, and install that one by running the .exe

Ok, right after I wrote the thread, I loaded the new brothers in arms, played it for 20 mins, was very happy with graphics, fps etc, wayyyyy better than my old pc. When I quit the game, i got toe blue screen when windows loaded up. And took a pic:

suggestions?

When I booted my laptop back up, the resolution of windows was on 800x600..

resolution might have something to do with it? I have it all on default settings on the game, didn't change a thing.

hmm, maybe run memtest and see how it goes?

It looks like a memory problem. I got the same error, and my 2gigs of Kinston ram was bad. I confirmed it with memtest86. My memory failed it bigtime. Kingston did take care of me though. I could be wrong in your case though.

I got this blue screen once only, that was when I was trying to run some mem test program.. on my desktop .. I really don't know how many time it happened last 2 years and now it's stable.

You can get the version I ran at:
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
I ran ver 1.6. They now have a newer version.
One way to do it is, you have to burn the ISO as an image to a CDR and boot to it. I used Nero.
Good luck,

You should download and run Memtest86 for at least 6 hours on the default tests to see if you get any errors. If you do then the memory is bad. You should also uninstall your video drivers and download and run Driver Cleaner in safe mode to make sure you get rid of everything and then install the latest drivers for your video card.

that also could be caused by sound card, i got that error when using SB audigy one in my desktop i pulled the card and used on board and it never came back... ultil i put the SB back in .... cheers

98% that is a ram issue. There should be a minidump error log in your system, check the event viewer and see what it says.

I'll be pissed. I didn't spend 100 bucks on this sound card for it be screwy. I'll try it out without the sound-card and let you know. so... what did you do with the sound-card then? it's useless? will they refund? exchange? anything?

7811 or whatnot. The updated on on Dell's site.

I might go ahead and get rid of my xbox and games now that I can game on this beast. I love my xbox though so it's very hard to do. I'm always on live, etc... It will only be until I have the $ and can find the new 360 xbox.
