sent this email to Sager Tech Support ... any ideas from in here?

======================
I experienced a strange SINGLE EVENT issue that I hope won’t happen again and in addition am experiencing a memory error.

The single event issue is that after powering off my Sager 9860 at the office and then coming home, I plugged in everything as usual, but the computer would NOT boot up! I unplugged the power cord, and tried booting up and it did. Then I powered down and plugged in the power cord again to boot up – it did successfully.
Question – WHY DID IT NOT POWER UP?
Every time I power down, I’m getting a memory error at address 0x004080d6. I tried to google this memory address and also on Microsoft’s support site – nothing found.
QUESTION – do you have any idea what this memory address is “connected” too? Video card?

try to disable nvsvc32.exe in the service configuration

does it get past the POST, this is where the bios hands control over to the OS.

Bios beep?
if you know where the RAM is and if you have 2 pull one out at a time and boot try to boot up.

errrr ... forgive my ignorance, but it sounds like your first sentence refers to the boot up process ... I'm not getting the error there, but rather am getting the error when i power off.

hmmm ... when i googled "nvsvc32.exe", I saw a few articles strongly recommending against disabling this service. What is your take on this; what does the nvsvc32.exe service do?

For example, I read this...

nvsvc32.exe - Here is the scoop on nVidia Video Card Driver as it pertains to computer network security. The big question: what is nvsvc32.exe and is it spyware, a trojan and if so, how do I get rid of nVidia Video Card Driver?
nvsvc32.exe (nVidia Video Card Driver) - Details
nvsvc32.exe is used by your computer to communicate with your nVidia video card. It is required for your nVidia grpahics card to work correctly. If you do not have a nVidia video card installed, it can be removed.

Arrgghh I did misread it.

on powering down you get the error all the time? you didn't run the laptop into anything? a knock or something?

Yup Warden ... every time ... and I've powered up/down many, many times since installing the 81.87 driver. Have discovered no other problems, but my 9860 is a business machine and I don't play any intensive games on it - hence I can't really say, under heavy duty demands on the GPU, how the 81.87 driver fares relative to the older 77.70
