Battlefield 2 frustrations

I did a search and looked at a few posts to steer me in the right direction.. however, it was less than fruitfull.

Herky jerky and untolerable speed is my frustration

Ok i think my sig holds my specs of my lappy, I have the video settings set on low with the 800x 600 (I believe) the audio quality is set to low with software handling the rendering and the eac box is checked. i do have the voip enabled as well.

I have trend as a virus, which I disable during gaming and then I run the free zone alarm (i do not turn that off) for my firewall. My other running icons are the speaker, wireless and a disabled network.

I did load the latest nvidia driver right from the alienware web site the 766_NvidiaFXGo_78.70

I do run wireless, but for starters I havent played online at all... if i cant get single player running without herky jerky, online would be totally frustrating.

Shouldnt I be able to run this game without any of the herky jerky?

I appreciate your attention and time into your response and possibly help.

you should be able to... maybe ram is your issue?

That's a good question. One possibility is your video chipset. The Quadro are workstation chips and really not suited to 3D games.

I see my cpu usage running at about 90% and my pf usage around 580 MB from the task manager as I am in the game

hmm....

I found this site looking through tech blogs and it will tell you whether or not your system can handle BF2 or not. It will ask to install an Activex control on your system..>its safe and they tell you how to remove it if you want to remove it. But choose the game from the list of literally a kajillion games listed and it will test your system, to see if it can run it. It works and it supposed to be accurate. it will even tell you what you need to upgrade or why this processor or vid card can't run the games...its reallly a neat program. Check it out...its free...and its all webbased.

sorry to say but your GPU is for video rendering and the such, not gaming. That is the problem.

ran the program Head13 suggested... failed video card as Craig had concluded

also looked at the fully supported cards.. mine not listed... damn, looks like a good game, and I just bought the DVD version

oh well, need to find a new game to play, maybe Half Life 2

that sucks, jester. but you arent missing out on much, after about 80 hours of online play, i feel like it's enough of that game.

there's so many games out there that provide the same amount of fun.

Yeah i have been turning back towards my Halo2. I haven't played BF2 in awhile now, looks like its been about 2 months...its sad yes. HL2 I haven't played since I beat it. which was about a week after I got it. and Doom3 I haven't touched since about an 3 or 4 hours after I got it. it just got boring. Nowadays I've been playing Shadow of the Colossos and Halo2 and Serious Sam 2.

I just ran my m5500, the test said I would be unable to play the game because of my go5700 graphics card....I've played BF2 every night this week.

If you can get a new lappy?

the Battlefield will be around for a long time. The Mods are coming! and DC/DCX is still alive and kickin.

yeah i'm sure it'll stick around for a while. i'm just getting bored with the maps, i guess, and the selfish gameplay on most public servers.

Alien_head13 yeah, that's probably the case....as everthing else is plenty to run BF2.

Selfish gameplay can ruin it...however, a good squad or game is a lot of fun and doesn't get old.

thats BS cuz i ran BF2 on a 9700pro even if it is for rendering im sure its more than capable to play BF2

3.2 P4, 1 Gig memory, Nvidia Quadro FX Go1000. I'm thinkin that it should play too. I had BF2 running on a GF-FX 5600. The setting were low but the gameplay was smooth. I would at least try to lower all the settings and use trial and error until you can raise the settings within something that can be played. I did try this game on a GF-Ti 4600 and the game would not even start. I think that is what would happen if the card was completely a compatability issue.

totally. know any servers where this happens, or is it random?
jaycat, you can randomly join a squad and hope they all have mics. Thats the random way of doing it. and they still might not be a good squad. Its better to join a team and make game times. Then you can hit any server with your team. Thats the non-random way of doing it. Once you have a team you can enter competition games. sR has a team created for the BF2 world tourny if you have time for something like that. There is a thread about it in the strafeRight gaming forums. Ive been on my LAN lately. that is fun as h$ll. But I'll be doing some team stuff pretty soon.
