Removed Dell s/w, now fans run all the time

Hi. I like my i9300, and a few days ago went ahead and uninstalled almost all the Dell bloatware that was present on the system when I bought it. The only things I still have are QuickSet, Dell System Restore, and Dell Picture Studio. Anyway, I could've sworn the fans were quieter before I did this; it seems like less power management is enabled. They seem to be running all the time; not real loud, but still more noticeable than before.

I do recall after the uninstall that my power icon (notification area/system tray) was gone. I had to go into the Control Panel | Power Options and re-enable the icon. I think I had to re-set a setting or two also. So it seems like perhaps one of the uninstallations slightly hosed my power configuration, at least as far as the fans go.

Can anyone tell me if/how to get the fan control back to its default setting, short of having to do the Dell System Restore back to factory settings? Thanks.

Do a search for i8kfangui

That program allows you to control all of your fans and monitor them!

I kind of remember after flashing the bios to ao3 or ao4 that the fans were much louder...not sure if they fixed that with ao5 but they do slow down now after high intensive games/apps have stopped running.

As already suggested tho....get that fan proggy

Hi. The BIOS suggestion is the right one. I did a chat with Dell, and they said I needed to flash the BIOS (from A04 to A05). I had a beer and did it, and voila, I'm sitting here with the notebook back the way it was, with QUIET fans. Thanks for the posts.
