What is the email address of Gateway Support?? I need they solve this problem

My note is already hot problem, and now this suck video problem ... =/

That looks like a VRAM issue. Is the image all distorted in the POST screens?
Thunder is 100% correct on this issue. If you are having "HOT" issues as you stated, your video is shot. You need to send it in to Gateway for repair. They will probably replace the motherboard.
Don't send them an e-mail, if you bought it at Best Buy and have a warranty, go through them, if not, do the Gateway chat, my experience is that the chat is faster.

I had the same problem. Send it in under warrenty and you'll get a new motherboard since the video is built into it and i ended up getting a new LCD too.

Thats the vido all the time? or just when it gets hot?

No, I never see this error on the POST Screen, just in Windows, sometimes ... mainly when wake up from the "standby" (hibernate also does, but no so much).

Ohh, a new motherboard would be GREAT for me, because I already had problems with the CPU cooler ... You also had this problem? ... hmm, I think that Gateway wasn't happy making this model and have some problem with this project, aff... Without an external cooler, almost impossibel to normal use, never mind in games... (pretty hot the GPU , and also CPU) ...

Hmm, It does mainly when wake up from "standby" mode, but sometimes also occours from hibernate (rarely) and new start windows (very rarely).

>> After install and tests with some drivers video, sounds like that, this problem does mainly always when I turn on the FastWrite this problem.... But this error occours even with fastwrite off, damn...
All that points mainly to drivers. It may not even be the GPU drivers, but could be the AGP drivers or some other system drivers. This many years into "standby" and MS is still far from having it "perfected".

i have a similar problem except when i turn down hardware acceleration, the distortion on my desktop and OS goes away, but every time i turn on my laptop or restart it all the screens are distorted(bios, windows XP screens) Also, no games will work either, everytimees you go into one it gets really distorted.
Can you guys help me!

Hi, hmm... How long did the Gateway take from u solving this problem?! ...
mine did the same thing.. i turned off powerplay in the video settings and it quit doing it!.. gateway has admited to a problem with it.
I sent mine out for repair which had this problem even in post and bios. Most likely a burnt out video card. Mine is on it's way back from being repaired as we speak.

what drivers are you running . i forget which ones i used but i "had" a set of drivers do that to me...i formatted and voila.. problem gone.

5.11 ati modded drivers. But it also happened on 5.10's.
I had an old HP desktop that would do that on occasion. all I had to do was restart to fix it. had integrated graphics with shared video memory, but the stupid thing was the video memory wasnt completely locked off so occasionally programs would write into the video memory, causing it to go all funky like that.

basically drivers can cause it sometimes, if they're writing bad data to the card, but in this situation its more likely the VRAM is corrupted

Yeah this particular issue is SUCH a pissoff. This started happening to my M6807 a few days ago. And like some1 else said, whenever i start any games, it f***s up. ARGH! The worst part is that I have no warrenty whatsoever. I'm completely on my own. Can someone tell me which drivers and what version I should try installing? Right now I have Omega 2.6.05a. Thanks.
Running 2.6.83 right now on my M6805. Works great. Before installing these you should use the ATI Cleanup Tool available on their website. And make sure everything related to ATI is uninstalled in the Add/Remove Programs of the control panel. Also make sure you have the VIA Hyperion 32bit drivers installed before installing the Omegas.

Make sure to press the Default button on the 3D tab for both Direct3D and OpenGL. Press apply for each and then "OK"

But all this fuss about the right drivers shouldn't even matter if the display looks f***ed right from the bootup eMachines logo, right? If so, are there any other solutions besides replacing the motherboard? Or should I be looking for a new laptop (I have no warrenty whatsoever)
Does it have the problem when you hook it up to an external monitor? If the picture is ok then your video card is ok. If it still has the garbled display then you have a connection problem with one of the cables to the LCD, some chip may be shorting out or your chipset is fried. You can try reseating the cables and vacuum out the motherboard.
When i connect an external monitor to the VGA output, i get the same garbled display on the monitor as i do on the LCD screen. But i'll open her up and vaccum her anyway. Any other advice is always appreciated. Thanks.
Apparently it's not your LCD screen or connectors. I would start looking for a new laptop if that vacuuming doesn't help out.
