Sony311, umm...you told me what? The part is now available from Dell.com for slightly more. You made it sound like it was going to be much, much more expensive. So, uh..you told me nothing. You appear to have a real attitude problem. You might want to work on that before posting.

Let me see, I paid $480 for the card and install including tax. I can now buy it from Dell.com for $540 including installation. What's your point?

And let's look at some of the things the "oh-so-right" Sony311 has told us:

"Here's some news that may kill some of you who haven't bought an upgrade yet....

DELL will be slowly rising the pricing of the upgarde card right away. once the current stock is depleted, they will be a little more stricter as to aqcuiring it. So, for those who haven't gotten it - better hurry!

As for the card price - Currently you guys are actully getting it for the WRONG price - it is actually only the UPGARDE price you are getting if you are purchasing an M170 in the first place! I heard that somepeople at Dell noticed this and will cancell that SKU or at least restrict soon!"

Yes, we're getting an "upgrade price"

Yes, the card is now "restricted"

"like I said, the card is being sold at the WRONG price and dell logistics is starting to figure it out...Don't believe me? Askmark himself and I garauntee you that even he will tell you that this card is actually only meant for NEW system purchases and not the actual UPGARDE priced card...Source? How about someone who works at Dell with Mark. More specifically Logistics/Dispatch department. Why do you think that it was so hard to get this card ordered?? It's not in their system because technically this card should not be sold seperate from a system..."

Yes, this new price Dell have, $60 more than the existing price we got from Mark is SUCH a "hike." Also, people are still calling in today and even though they're NOT speaking to Mark, are getting the same price we all got in the first place!

Yep, clearly since Dell added the 7800 upgrade to their website, this card should "NOT be sold separate from a system

"That's all i've been saying!!! GET THE CARD NOW WHILE IT LASTS! I was just giving a warning out to those who were contemplating getting one.

It will probably either be harder to get one or pricier later. That's all I'm trying to say."

Yep, it's even HARDER to order the 7800 now it's on Dell's website.

Well,

I hate to agree, but the price can go up on the website at any time really to the $599 original price its listed at.

The "select" accessory sale is set to end 11PM CST on the 9th (today) so if you are thinking of ordering soon anyway why chance of "returning" to $599 normal price

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...&page=external

the $599 is crossed out to reflect the discount, but $509 is not the normal price .

"Save up to 20% on your purchase of select Electronics & Accessories ordered through Dell Home Electronics & Accessories! Offer includes select Dell Flat Panel Monitors, select Digital Cameras, select Memory, networking and more! Scroll down for more details.

Offer ends November 09, 2005 11PM CT on select items."

Can you please quote Sony in your reply, I think you are referring to him. If you are referring to me, I'm not sure why.

What is the point of debating like intelligent adults / arguing like children over this topic?

This has been one of the biggest E-phallus threads that I have ever seen on here.

The internet would be so much better if people didn't feel the need to constantly one up each other.

Lets all freaking relax and get back to what do best here: analyzing, helping and having fun with our notebook experience.

I agree 100%. It would be especially useful if people didn't come on here pretending to be G-d, or at least acting like that. But let's move on, shall we?

One interesting point, the CSR said that as the part is new, the card will fall under the same warranty as my system so I'll still get 3 year complete care with it. Can anyone else confirm this? She didn't even mention paying for install.
That's pretty orsom...when i asked a dell rep they told me "There is no change to your warranty by switching the video cards. However, the new video card will not be tied to the original system warranty."

hmm might call someone else to confirm what the deal is. I'm hoping what you have said is true as i have 4 year complete care
post #296 of 406
I've always been told that the part, if you order it for a system, is tied to the warranty, or 90 day warranty if it's not.

SO......can anyone confirm that their 7800 shipped out yesterday, or do we have nothing but backorders. I called to check my order today cause it's still on pre-production with a ship date of the 11th.......but the lady told me their is an unknown delay on getting the part? (I wish they spoke english better, I hate having to repeat and then listen to the phone like i'm 80 and can't hear)
It prob just means that they are just backordered on the card and don't know when they'll get more in.
