VAIO TX1HP or DELL Latitude X1, this is the question

What TFT is better? DELL 1" more, but VAIO X-Black. DELL 3 years warranty SONY only one. I dont know what to do.

Before you go out and buy one of those ultra portable, teeny weeny laptops, I highly recommend you go to best buy and type on one, see if you really like it or not. Personally I didnt like the sony ultra portables or dells for that matter, the keyboards are very tiny and not very efficient for typing. Kind of like with cell phones, sure you can make one the size of a grape but who the hell can punch the numbers??? Also keep in mind what kind of capabilities you want your lappy to have, those ultra portables dont offer the best of graphics and very many usb or other ports, such things are sacrificed for the ultra portability.

good thing, X1 has full size keyboard (aka, the size of any other dell laptop, even bigger than 700m)

Agreed, the X1 has a very usable and large keyboard. They really tried to use the space on this machine. Not sure about the TX, but I always found the Sony T series keys too small. Hopefully they fixed it - that would make the TX really nice!

I'm considering a T1XP right now, big advantage for me is that the Dell doesn' t have a builtin optical drive, the Sony does.

I have both. I do like the fact that the X1's keyboard is bigger and that the machine is fanless.

The X1's screen isn't that great (it's fine)--it just pales in comparison to the TX. It really depends on what you want and what your priorities are. If you want a media drive built-in, then stick with the Sony. If you want a bigger keyboard, stick with the Dell.

If I had to choose, I'd probably keep the Sony, as the battery life is better and I love to watch movies on the screen (my priorities).

Well, realistically, since the X1 is so much cheaper than the Sony, you could buy the extended 6 cell battery and probably get similar battery life. The X1 is lighter too, so even with the extended battery you're not carrying more than the TX. I would agree, though, that the screen of the X1 isn't the best. It's clear/bright/nice, but does lack the contrast of the glossy screens. It is bigger by 1" though
