might go to eurocom then they still have old stuff, even the old lemons such as the d870p

Good bye old friend, we barely knew thee!

that thing looks so thick and heavy.

and its a p4...

I'm curious too, why was it discontinued? It was a pretty good notebook for its class.

I'm not sure that this was the a popular model The design was awful, huge weight, thick and hot ... and at the beginning the price was only $200 lower then the 9860 which was 17' etc. Nevertheless it was powerful for 15,4' ... i have also considered buying it due to its price reduction

I didnt think it looked so bad. It may have been thick but it was pretty nice.

Well everybody has differeny taste ... but cum on the 98*0 series looks better ... But the machine was performing good - has to admit that

i had some experience with it and it was very nice considering it came with a p4 HT chip. it would beep if you placed it on a surface that restricted airflow to the fans so it can alert you.

the dual battery option was a plus as well. probably could get 3 hours out of it that way with a 3.0-3.4 P4.

Think the 5720 took over its targeted demographic...
maybe but i just love the look, will prolly get one from eurocom next year as i need cpu power
post #14 of 18
if you NEED cpu power, than a 9 series with a dual core cpu will be the better choice then.
if the software you work with is not multi-threaded then dual cores won't help you at all.

Not unless you use 2 pieces of software at once, in which case it helps again.

or if he gets a single core athlon FX

and generally, cpu intensive software is multithrreaded. most 3d apps are, and so are a number of encoders.
