Sorry hulioni - I've been napping all afternoon (literally!). Getting ready to go to dinner at Shula's Steak House - trying to decide - steak or lobster? Definitely going to start with a very dry vodka martini!

Hey - I'm laughing to myself. You know the troll that stopped by earlier? Do you think he was mislead by the title of the thread

Get both, you deserve it...

Waiter, get Shazza another martini, and she'll have the surf and turf...

Repped out to Jazzy, some random rep-love and a special one to the guy that for me, posted the funniest line in the whole Dell/AW furore:

So, who's going to be the first to go into the Alienware forum, and post
Dude, you're gettin' a Dell!

I almost wet myself with that one!

Hey Shazza, do what I do, drink until you can't decide and then go to MacDonalds!

that reminded me of a joke I just read

"Dr. Phil's Advice for Inner Peace.

I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following the simple advice I heard on the Dr. Phil show, I have finally found inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started and never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle ofMerlot, a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a bottle of Kahlua, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos and a box of chocolates.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel. Please pass this on to those you feel might be in need of inner peace."

So I do think we should be careful...and I think we are owed an explanation of what is and isn't private on these forums.
I completely agree. My rep system was exposed to some members in the Dell section by a Dell mod a while back when they were apparently looking for someone posting neg reps. This was a major violation of my privacy if you ask me, but apparently nothing was done about it though I complained.

I've used the PM system to communicate with mods, AW reps, and other members with the assumption that PM's were "P".

I'm not sure exactly what is going on with that, but I will no longer use the rep system or PM system with information I don't want public.

also it is the reason that the oldschool hitlisters who basically administer the running of the list have set up comms off the site so that it cant be compromised unless we decide to compromise info from it....
I don't care if they spy on one person or the whole group. If one of us is compromised, we all are.

If they reserve the right to snoop through your PM's, it should be plainly printed somewhere that the Private Message system is not Private.

Why don't they call it a public message system if it's open for mods to do what they wish?

You, my friend, had it easy...I had 6 nekkid skinny Asian men with either diapers or tighty-whiteys that Yang, may the fleas of a thousand camels infest his nethers, left me...YOU, my friend, are lucky.

Issue 2: Aurora

He was not banned...he put the 'adios' in his member profile...why I have no idea. Do you really think the people who run things around here would revoke mod privledges unless it was justified? Have they ever before? No. There's a lot that goes on around here that few people see. Let's just say Aurora has spent a lot of time on these forums and his work in that time will not be forgotten. I think its safe to say his membership here is in fine standing and no one wants to see him leave for good.
Okay, thanks for the clarification Craig.

Comparing to a real life situation with a group of friends, if some random came in the middle of a conversation in an unfriendly manner I'd consider that rude or 'disgusting'.

Thats my opinion of the matter, and I never said anything out of order in the thread in question.
I agree Fpad...

I know I'm a lightning rod for conflicts, but I'm very careful to usually only return the attitude I'm given, though whether I've been successful is a matter of opinion. It's my belief that the string in question was exacerbated by a few trolls that posted things like "Dude, you own a Dell" to Alienware customers that has absolutely no value whatsoever to anyone other than the trolls that are trying to cause problems.

This is the AW section. We don't go to other sections to cause problems, and we welcome those from other sections that are here for reasons other than to cause problems. I find it very difficult to swallow AW forum members being blamed for responding to immature invasions of morons with nothing other on their minds than looking like heroes to their fellow trolls.

I'm also very tired of the momos that speak from a position of authority when they clearly don't have a clue about hardware, either what they own or what Alienware sells.

If in fact we're expected to sit by while these trolls shit up our section with BS and not respond, then this clearly isn't the forum for me.

I don't understand this problem personally, as Dell has posted notice that anyone from their section coming in here to troll and cause conflicts will be banned. I can see several examples from the string in question that IMO should result in bans for people from other sections.

Having said that, there were Dell people in that string that didn't bring the attitude, and we were able to have a decent exchange. There are members of this section that own Dell products that don't feel the need to be pricks.

Craig has always been truthful and helpful to me, and generally I think we've seen these situations eye to eye, so there must be things going on behind the scenes that we aren't privvy to. I think it's likely that this string has generated a lot of interest, not only from different sections of this forum, but from the web as well. If that's the case, I can understand that the powers that be here would be upset that this string would represent the community to outsiders, but the solution to that should have been to spank the people causing the problems, not the regular members of this section.

For the time being I think we should do as Craig asks, wait to get a response from AW or Dell regarding the issue, then procede to deal with Rahul Sood's blather as is warranted.
