I like it. It is almost the color of the Aurora 7700m. Shazza, I have a question: does your 5500 ever get too warm to where you couldn't use a USB mouse?

Actually - I've never used a mouse with mine, but I doubt it would get too warm. I've used a PCMICA modem card for several hours - it gets warm to the touch, but hasn't affected usage. I almost always have the computer on my lap/leg - with the right side pretty much open underneath for airflow. That's one of the nicest things about this system - it does get warm, but only on the right side, so it is easy to position for comfort.

Would a cooler work?
The reason I'm asking is that I might be changing my mind on the 3400m, in order to get the 5500m. I'm thinking for the forseeable future when I convert to Vista. A dedicated graphics card should be better for some of the features of Vista...

Okay - Electric, here you go:

Rep was originally planned to be used to reward people who made good posts. There is also an option to give people negative rep (turns them red) - but that's considered bad form by most and generally not done. Rep has now turned into a mini-game where we try to level each other up. First you go green - then pink - then yellow - and finally start getting blue dots (yay!!!). It takes 100,000 rep points to get to pink, and 1 million points to get to yellow. You then progress through yellow to 10 million points to get two blue balls. After that - well, we don't need to worry about that for a long time (unless you're Fidget and some of the other Loose Cannons).

We have a list where we decide who the target is, and everyone playing the game gives them a number of rep hits each day. The other reps you can hit people randomly or make trades. We are in transition on the list right now, so it's a bit loose and lots of trading going on.

There are really no rules - posting here gives you a better chance to get rep, but it's also important that you regularly rep others. You can check how many rep points you have by clicking on your User CP at the top left of the page and it says how many points you have on the right side of the first bar. It will also show you who has repped you recently. Always leave your name when you rep so people know it was you.

To know how many rep points you dish out, use the rep calculator at the bottom of the list, a couple of pages back. For instance, I just turned blue - and am now giving 50,000 points a shot. Got it?

I've noticed some people are getting a cooler - imagine it will help - main thing is to check dimensions.

another way to determine rep worth is take your total rep points and divide by 200.

Thanks. I will probably go with the 5500m then. I read the article on it in Apr's issue of Laptop Magazine. It got the editor's choice.

Yes - but it's not nearly as scientific and important sounding as using the rep calculator

Once people play with the calculator - they see that number of posts and time on board have little impact on the number of posts.
