i do nothing...but, technically i do have a JOB.
i come in at 2:00pm, wait for a file to get on the web for account information that needs processing from our ATM's. i run that file in our system...downtime for about an hour tilll 3:30 and i run a program in Symitar we call GOODNIGHT. its a batch program that tells our system when to send out payments for loans and that type of junk. it also runs the backups of our sysetem at midnight.
at abour 4:00 i generate a file of our daily transactions and i upload it to ORCC via FTP. i encrypt it with PGP... wait 30 minutes to check the FTP site for a reject file...blah blah
i sit around again...put some tapes in drives in the server room, check the tempreture of the room 68 degrees F. blah blah...check the comm closets on all the floors for errors or faulty modem/switches..
around 5:00 i start the server backups - disable dial in for symitar, restart the web server...
at 5:30 i go downstairs and empty/count our Visa Check Cards from the embosser, place leftovers in the vault....
then i send E-Funds a file of our transactions for the day...via FTP with symitar...
6:00pm i take the day priors tapes to our Disaster Recovery Building across town..wich is essentially another credit union thats desilate. fully functional thought...its kinda neat...
then i drive my happy ass home.
i work for Dow Chemical Employee's Credit Union in Midland MI.
EDIT: the calls i get are Help Desk calls that we get after 3:30, the lady's that usualy handle the calls go home then so i carry a cellphone and im a 1 man helpdesk...
most of the problems are broken keyboards, crappy monitors, loose connections, printer jams..and stupid ppl asking questions to the wrong department.
