Yeah , my 766 was solid for 3 years.
So $1300 for that the 5550 seems totally reasonable to me for some reason

Spec'd the same (well the gpu is less a bit in the AW). The AW priced at $2,595.83 for the price of the Asus. It's a good deal for the spec is all on the Asus. That tax and shippin is a killer to boot but was included in the final price I spec'd and that hurts.

Know you seen it, glad you didn't quote it .

And yeah, I member what it was like not to have to pay that thar tax . Shippin was free back then too (k if you sent the rebate in). I did almost buy a 7500 for the case and FX a bit back. Maybe down the road. Only had silver in the case psu only thang. Wanted the black n blue look.

I get that, but I don't think I need a comp with the asus specs, and i think the 5550 with a few upgrades is still my best bet, I mean you can't beat the build of the a ware systems. Rock solid.

Edit: except for my video card after 3 years.

I in no way mean to talk ya out of the 5550 in any way (feel bad comin off that way). I had the time to mess with the 7700 and it's runnin like the day I bought it again and is a great machine. Still does what I bought it to do so what else can I ask. Good luck with whatever choice you make . AW support has been top notch in my case as well to boot so.

No doubt about it Ashaneen. I'm the last one to talk bad about Alienware or to try to talk you out of a m5550 purchase. I think it's a great machine. I loves me some Alienware. But the notebook is for my son.

He was at his Grandparents last weekend and was playing on their new $900 Gateway desktop. He came home saying he likes it better than both of our Alienware desktops...

No AlienEyes for that little bassid for a premium!!!

Oh, I didn't take it that way, Didn't even think about it,.. I'm just trying to get opinions before i make my purchase, I have been deliberating for about a month or more, and you know I'm just itchin' 4 a new machine.
So, I'm relatively positive i am going that route and will probably be ordering an m5550 tomorrow
